2GB of bandwidth

We usually use about 1.5GB of bandwidth per month, now we're at 2Gb and it's only a 1/3 of the month past by.
I have another new article which has been released a few days ago but it always takes a few days before it booms since news posts are not instant and the bigger sites get more news to post so it takes up to a few days to get posted. Though the review is nothing all that exciting, it's just a cold cathode light. Php is something allot of people are curious about these days so that's why that article made it big like that.

This is good news, more traffic means potentially more members. Though I'd hate to see what woule happen if this site got /.-ed. I think your host may not like it too much

Lol yeah. I want it to get /.ed but at the same time I'm scared of the resutls. I think I'd have to block that referrer the same way I block bitbender and just have a friendly message saying to book mark the page and check it later and sorry for the inconvinience blah blah...
But I think if I release not more then one article per month I should be fine and I should try and release them mid month and not at the start like I did this time - 2 of them.
The second is not making it as big though.

I think you should do what you can and not expect a huge site like warp2search or /dot to send a million people your way. If that happens you get better hosting and ask for donations. It's part of having a tech site.

Yeah, well I always submit it there anyway as I did have a few articles make it on warp2search and send about 1000 hits ( [H] was actually more hits!) but I won't push too hard and end up blasting us off the internet lol.
The thing is, none of these people actually go anywhere else on the site. And come to think about it, if you see something on another site and go read it, you'll just close the window after and keep doing what you were doing, so while it's nice to have all these hits, it actually doe snot do much for forum activity, but there's always that slight chance of something actually posting (and being active. :headbang: ).
Then there's forums like anandtech that have 5 times this forum's total population online at once and use somewhat 200GB per month LOL. No way I could afford that. business DSL has a 15GB limit, if it was not for that I could at least plan to get business DSL and do the hosting myself since it's 150 bucks per month which is $2250 per year which ain't bad to consider that if it was unlimited, I could at least offer dedicated hosting for a few sites and make up some of it. I'd probably charge like $70/month or whatever. It would be a "self manage" service where they have full control over the server and "own" it.
Ahh dreams dreams.... I'll never make that much money until I finish school. I think by then IPv6 will be more standardlized and hopefully high end connections such as T3 will be less expensive.

haha we only used 300MB since my last post saying 2000. We're still getting more hits on the php article then any other though. I will definatly want to come up with a 2nd version of it to go more into advanced issues.
