You will shorly start to see ads around the site and forum that say "ads by google". I joined the adsense program and just got the email saying I'm accepted and ready to start. These ads will (hopefully) help completly pay our future site cost if we ever need to go on a dedicated server or T3 line server or what not. Now the price is only yearly so it comes out of my pockets and I'm more then happy to pay it, but when it starts costing a few grands per month, I sure hope the ads will help. Meanwhile the money made from these ads will be saved and secured. (me big spender? I'll try not to
)
So I hope they won't get in the way... and first of all, do click if you see something interesting. They will automaticly be targeted ads according to the content of the page. This is NOT spyware, however so let's not get it mixed up.
I'll start putting the code around now so things might look funky until I get the colors right.

Done.
They will apear in forums and in posts, for now. Unfortunatly google's policy is that there cannot be other ads on the same page, so I can't put it on the site as I have the add rotator. But I want to redo the layout sooner or later so I'll just not put the rotator. The home page will be free of ads so whenever I do want to put an ad I'll simply put it there. The new layout should be less restrictive. I want to make it exactly like the forum. But that's not a priority now, but something for later.

Man I really like these ads, it's interesting to see what they advertize. If you go in the articles you get all these ads for fans and stuff, and a while ago I got ads for php and mysql courses.

Wouldn't it be better to put them at the bottom of the page?

Better click through rates if they are on top.
It's crazy how much hits we get on just the forum, so if they see the ads there's a chance of getting clicks, and each click =
$ for me.
But I'm in experiment mode right now so anything goes, I'll keep them there for a while, then later I might change them around etc...

Haha I have a 0.5% click through rate right now, only 1 click and that was me. I made 3 cents out of that click.
But only 200 impressions though. But it's been less then a day so I have to keep this in mind.

be careful with the ad code.
this is the style of ad code that is used on geocites and on any lycos network hosting site.
and they all cause errors on the html code for us users of those sites.
and they even mess up the java script codes and make them not work.

yep it seems that microsoft is not really careing about us Ie users ever since the stupid lawyers sued them.
you know that in a class action law suit that you are in you will only get about 1% of the money that is collected. the rest is paid out to the court and the lawyers.
and of that the lawyers get 95% of it.
the classaction law suits are started by some lawyer that gets an idea that he can get money from a company if he makes it look like everyone in the country is affected by the product.
when in fact only a hand full have the same trouble with the product everyone else just jumps on to try and get money for nothing when he wins. but they dont relize they are only going to get about 2 to 12 us dollars if anything.
from the amount of settealment after it is divided up between the 4 million other people that joined the suit.
and unless you have a lot of people in the suit it is not going to win.
the lawyers all know this but dont want to let it out to public knowledge because they want to beable to rip off the companys and the public.
that is one of the reasons why texas passed the law saying the people that start a law suit that is frivilious will end up paying the court cost and lawyer fee for the other side and theirs and be put in jail for some time to think about how stupid they were..
the state has been a lot quiter now not so many law suits in the local news down here.
I wonder why.
Oops ran off track of the topic again sorry.
