This is kind of funny

The parents of a 15-year-old who made a video of himself fighting with a lightsabre (he improvised with a golf ball retriever) have sued the parents of four boys who are blamed for putting the humiliating footage on the internet to the amusement of millions, according to Canada's Globe and Mail.

The short video featuring chubby teenager Ghyslain Raza from Quebec is widely available on the internet, and “The Star Wars Kid” as he became known has featured in newspapers across the world.

According to the Globe and Mail the lawsuit accuses four boys, Michaël Caron, François Labarre, Jérôme Laflamme and Jean-Michel Rheault, of turning Ghyslain into “an object of mockery”.

As a result, according to the claim, Ghyslain has had to drop out of school and “will be under psychiatric care for an indefinite amount of time” – and now his parents are seeking damages of $225,000.

Not all the commentary has been derisory, however. After the release of the video in April on-line appeals were launched for Ghyslain, raising more than $4,300. A petition has also begun, lobbying director George Lucas to give Ghyslain a part in the next Star Wars film – with over 28,000 signatures at the time of writing.

That was an odd read though. I would hate if someone put some video of something embarrassing I did.

Yeah, but I would never tape myself doing something like that. Unless I was to make it cool and add effects and stuff. I would not sue over that though, at least not for that ammount.

I look at sueing as a quick legal way to steal money.

:o

that is just what they are trying to do. that kid did that infront of a camera unless he is stupid or he has stupid parents that did not tell him it could be found and used against him.

then he knew it was going to happen. they would not mind if it was more profess.. done. i think this is wrong and is just not justified but then i am in texas usa, where we toss that type of lawsuit in the trash heap.

i really thought the whole movie star wars was stupid. so him making that video fit right in as normal for the movie.

I think they should throw out all these lawsuits in every state and provice (canada). Like people sueing McDonald's because it's not good for you?! Like that's crazy.

I heard of a crook sueing a bank because he fell out the washroom window trying to run out with money or something. It's insane lol.

I saw this on the News a few nights ago

That's horrible. Imagine being under psychiatric care for (I would guess) traumatization and then someone offering you a job doing the same thing that traumatized you... As for the lawsuit, that's a little extreme, but hey, whatever turns thier cranks.
