I figured I'd start a new thread rather than Ninjaing another topic. I've seen a few people that have admin and seer accounts and how they feel guilty, or don't want to piss people off by PKing or attacking people with normal characters.
I have a mixxed opinion about this. First of all, it seems like a bit of an extra advantage that seers and admins can see where everyone is at all times, and that might give an opinion that a person got attacked in a certain location because they were known to be there due to higher powers. I've gotten to know the people on this server and know that it wouldn't happen that way, but I figured I'd throw that out there because it would be a valid opinion from new players joining the server.
On the flip side, PvP and the challange of getting PKd has always been a big part of the game. If the staff didn't do anything to promote that, or at least find a way to promote more PvP events, then it becomes a dead part of the game. There are plenty of places like the Gauntlet and Tokuno to get decent items without getting PK'd. I havent checked out the ruleset for the new custom areas being developed by the staff yet.
Something I've only seen a couple times are people actualy dueling each other to see who can beat each other. I'd like to see some kind of an honor or reward from a player point of view where they challenge each other for some kind of item they they have(Both people put up an arty or PS or something up as collateral in order to duel each other).
I'd like to see people reply to this and see what kind of discussion comes out. I'm not trying to offend anyone, just create some chat about a big topic.

Well, I'd like to believe that the staff won't use their powers to see where people are, so I will believe that.
Like you said, there are plenty of places to hunt where you can be safe from other players and also get decent items/artys. But some of the best items out there are the AoAs, and people won't be able to get them unless they come across an extremely benevolent player or if they go to Fel themselves to try their hand at grabbing one. Also, once you get to know a few of the people on the shard, you can guess where they will most likely be located if they are online. When I see DR. THUNDER online, I always run to Despise because I know that will be a likely place to find him, unless I'm out at sea fishing. Regardless, with time, you don't have to be staff to figure out where some people are.
In regards to your duel system. It's a fine idea, but I think it would primarily be some sort of player-made agreement instead of utilizing some sort of coded script.
I enjoy PvP, regardless of my inability to be good at it. I think the only way to get PvP active is to have people spend as much time in Felucca as possible. If the majority of the people online are spending time in Fel, there will be a clash sooner or later, and clashes lead to fun.

Well, iam not a seer or anything, but i feel bit guilty too if i go and raid somene who's worked hard for it(lets say been doing wrong champ for an hour), and lets say he sold me something i needed, for a cheap price day before that.
Pvp works best if theres hate behind it
thats what i liked about pvp shards, its extremetly hard to make friends, but when you got a bunch of reliable pkers, then the fun starts as you can just log in kill all you want and log out(and then listen the accusing of using injection/autoloot/blocking and shit on forums:D)
I havent raided a single champ on valor for real (raided reco once but he was my 'friend' so i was ready to give all the good ps back)
And i dont like it when people think iam a "trammie", ive played non insurance / all fel shard about 3 years(since it started) plus some random pvp shards now and then, and even tho iam bit newbie with anything regarding osi, i still think iam pretty decent pvper.
About dueling, ive been doing a lot of it too, and i blame myself for getting some stuff regarding to archers nerfed, cause things shouldnt be balanced by what happens inside 5x5 box.
Its the field what matters.
basicaly the issue is too friendly athmospier, mehh, feels weird writing this, but it really is so.

Well, when I had became a seer, I had originally talked to Squirrel and asked for total secrecy regarding becoming a seer to avoid accusations like the above. Unfortuneatly my messages did not reach him in time, and my E.Machine forum account was already labeled as AoV Seer, and so on, so I just went with it.
I definatlely have used my seer to see where people are, but its usually always just friends. And if I stumble across someone in fel on my seer, I'm not going to go raid them.
Hell, I teleported to Nosferatu the other day, and just appeared and said "RAID! O_o!" and just disappeared again. But it was shearly a joke, and I never came down to attack him or anything.
If I'm going to raid someone, or attack someone in fel, there are 3 places I will check before all others. Destard, Despise and the Darth Vader spawn.
Destard I always see people at on my player accounts farming AoA's from Drakes and Dragons, and Despise well... its easily solo'able. And Vader, well, thats self explanitory.

I guess one way around this is to make an unguilded char thats kind of kept secret, so if you pk someone, nobody knows who that char is.

I didn't want to sound like I was acusing by any means, I think everyone here is great so far. It was just thrown out there as a new player perspective that I've run across from other servers.
I'm hoping that due to the friendly nature of this server that the new monster AI will improve a bit of the need for teamwork and challenge to the game.
I think the idea of Seer's here are cool, but I'd like to see them used a lot more constructively. When you're on as a Seer, start up a PvP event, or create a gate to a random place and spawn some crazy monsters that are tuff enough to require a group to kill them. I'd like to see more PvP and PvM events at random times just because people are on. THere doesn't even have to be a super reward. It's fun to something challenging and out of the norm sometimes.
Hmm... while I'm talking here I might throw out another idea. I've seen a couple people like Doctor Thunder post that he is at the Coon spawn and wants to be raided. That is a cool idea as well. It lets people know that you are there and looking for PvP, and then it could be a competition to see who can kill the other player, and or steal the kill of the final champ and stuff. People won't feel guilty raiding you, if you are asking for it, an it becomes more fun.

You know what though? I've tried doing that tons of times when theres 10-15 people on, and NO ONE responds.
As a seer, I can see exactly how many people are online at all times. And half the time, most of them are afk macro'ers or BOD collectors. I do those random events when I see like 20 people on, because I know then people will respond.
Even squirrel tried to do an event and promised an Orny for first place, and not one person showed up.
As for the raiding of spawns idea. From now on, EVERY TIME I do a champ spawn, I'm going to go on my seer, and broadcast a message that I'm doing it if anyone wants to raid.

I had a random idea of a stone that you pay like 500 gp and it lets you broadcast a server message as a player.

I'd love to do some events but the problem exists where there aren't a lot of players on at a given moment to launch these events. We would have to pick a ripe time (Fridays or Saturdays maybe) in order to have an event and a decent player show up. I have also been thinking of having a week event where you need to do a task within that week and the person who fulfills it faster will get a random prize.

just to give some constructive feedback i say this:
The destard swamp event what was located in fel and pvping was allowed as best event there has been so far, hands down.
And seriously people, if youre seer here, dont play on demise more than you play here (brunus
)
edit: and i'd also like to say somethign about the playerbase, one argentina hosted shard went down and all the players + admin play now on valor, they also own netcafe i talked with the owner and he said that there are at least 10 players from argentina playing valor.
Also 3 new players from finland have joined recently, first of them is kekkek, and rest of two are invited by him, all of them are active.
So, maybe if you'd try make that damned pvp event whats haunting in history now?

the stone would require some kind of work as well to activate, just so it does not get abused. Like you need to gather some kind of item or something.

Hm. Reason I've been playing in Demise more then here is my lag. My connection cant handle this server well anymore because of the loads of accounts and such. (I'd ping 70 when I was the first one to have an acc).
If you guys really want it, I can get a guy here and he can mass raid everyone.

That does not really make sense, demise probably has 100 times as many accounts as here, and probably really 100, when you consider all the dead/banned ones. (my banned accounts still exist)

It SOMEWHAT makes sense for me. Since I pinged 150 in Demise waaay ago, about 400 days ago. Now I ping 400 there as well. (they have over 50k accs, 6k or so where created in that time period)
I dont think its the accounts by itself, but the data stream, since all of those accounst have items, and some of them arent being used. In Demise thats a biggie lol
