Well my home page is hand coded, but is sort of like the same idea of a portal with the news feature and all. I never installed a precoded portal so I can't help you there, but I'm sure it's easy enough. You can probably get one at hotscripts.com or something. Jack and boopers is also a portal with other mods on it.

For the stuff on the home page such as the last topics, it's a modified version of a mod I downloaded, the one that uses ssi.php, since I was getting errors with that, I copied ssi.php and named it lasttopics.php and stripped it down to just the topics and not all the other built-in stuff so I just do a simple include and it works great.

For the rest of the stuff like the latest articles, it's pretty much all custom code to read the last few entries of the database file. Speaking of the database file, I should back those up once in a while, at least the news anyway. :o

well I could tell that you just copied the links from the board and made your own stuff. I did that on mine, but I want the news section to display on the main page as well as a user login and such. Maybe some stats as well.

Actually, there's a mod for news, I think it's called advance news export or something. It did not work when I tried it here, but maybe you'll have better luck than me. :)

hahah, I hope so. I know that IBplanet.com has a whole bunch of these mods that I am talking about, but I just haven't had the time to go check em out. Maybe later tonight.

BTW red, even thought I did steal your layout a little bit, what do you think of the site? i am going to hopefully work on it tonight, but in windows, I dont' want to re-learn image editing with the GIMP, just yet.

It looks cool. Once you add more CSS and color I think it will look great!

The Invision board 1.2 final comes with a built in site portal, which is cool and saves a lot of hassle. B)

hmm
I do not like the 1.2 that much. I might think about it since I am going to have to update it and it will help me get my site built faster. is it hard to upgrade when I have some mods installed?

I was looking at phpnuke last night and I have it installed here : http://worldchaos.no-ip.com:12123/wldkos/

but I am not sure if it is compatible with IPB. I also downloaded some scripts from hotscripts.com... does anyone have any suggestions for a portal that works with IPB?

I hear that IPB 1.2finals comes with a built in portal. i tried to get it working on a test board, but that didn't go so well.
