Again, I got SQL errors and now there's a bunch of stuff missing. I don't have time to fix it now since Ihave to leave for school but I'll see what I can do when I come back. I keep emailing the host about it and they say they are "working on it" but it's been too many months, I think they are not doing anything no more. They started ingoring my emails on this matter now. I'd switch host but it's too hard when my mom is in control of stuff like that. Once I'm 18 I'll be able to have my own credit card and I promise this place will be so much better. I'm sick of this host crashing the site like that, and every day it's down and slow. I will soon write a review on the host, a bad one. There's a place on the net where there's reviews for different hosts.

I hate when you have hosting that you actually pay for and it sucks! i have had better free hosting (not MySQL or PHP) that has been better. But for the most part, this site is slower than AF.com by a little, but keep in mind, you have a lot going on here.

Yeah it is slower than AF at times, and AF get's more people on at once, and since were on the same server, either way it should equalize. I think it's all the mods and security checks I have, but with a good working mysql, those don't make a difference.

Now I forget what thread disapeared! I should of marked it down this morning.

Yeah, I noticed we were down last night.

Anyway, I periodically run TraceRoutes on our site, and noticed that it's on ds2.rcthost.net which, according to RCTHOST.COM has been down 92 times since the beginning of the year, all of them in June, with uptime being 77.616% and downtime totalling 46hrs. 0 mins. (That's alot of downtime). As for the quality of thier service, check out http://www.hostingassured.findmyhosting.com/ .

Interesting, where did you find that info on the 92 days of downtime?

If you do the math, we are 5 months and 14 days into this year, that makes about 157 days, so the server is down an average of every 1.7 days! That is horrible! I'm going to write a review at hosted assured, that's where I went to choose this host since it seems to have the best reviews.

What's good about this, is if ever I were to start a hosting company, I would probably make it big. Once I'd learn linux inside out, perfection everything, it would hardly ever be down. When doing work on the server, I'd copy the drive to a clone server and perfection it there, then switch the drive (faster than copying). I'd find these tactics to avoid every possible down time. Slowdowns are harder to control, but in this case, they are caused by something in mysql, so in that situation, I would be installing a different version, chances are they upgraded and that's what caused problems. I like this quote from the host, it's so not true"

You will rarely find your website down
Abchsoo!!

Found the info at http://www.rcthost.com/serveruptime.htm , and as for being down ever 1.7 days, it's actually 92 times in June alone for ds2.rcthost.net

Youtch!

We are on server 4 though I think... At least that's what I use to log into Cpanel, but a trace route leads to server 3 though. Strange. given the stats, I think we are on server 3 though. But if I type it in using server 4...http://ds3.rcthost.net/~iceteks/ I get the site. But the tracert points to ds2. This is quite interesting...

I doubt my win98 server is down that often, and this is a internal server here, uptime is not really crucial. Heck, I even have remote administration on it. Next time my mom's on the PC I'll freak her out and type stuff while she's typing an email. That would be so funny. :roflmao2:

I actually figured out that trace routes always end up going to the same server, not sure why. We are actually on ds3.rcthost.net (http://ds3.rcthost.net/~iceteks) and it's been down 16 times this month, which makes it down every day so far, and it's exactly what it's been!

I asked if we can switch to ds2.rcthost.com which apears to hardly be down. Hopefully they will say yes. Our rank in google is lowering because of all this downtime, and 90% of time when people check the site it's probably down which is why we are hardly getting any members. It's always down around supper/evening time, where the net is more active.
