Two ideas

Masterpieces
I got this idea a very long time ago. I was playing a custom shard and every time a person crafted something, they had a small chance that what they crafted would become a masterpiece. Now, I played this shard years before AoS came out, so there were no mods on items. But, I think this idea would have even more capabilities these days.
I've done a little bit of thinking on this, but I'm sure the idea will need some rounding out. The way I was thinking it would work is if a person crafted a "masterpiece" then the item would have masterpiece added to the title. (i.e. "an exceptional katana [masterpiece]").
The only thing I've been wondering about is what sort of advantages a masterpiece could hold. Here's what I've come up with so far :
Containers - additional holding space
Clothing - a small resist bonus
Tools - more than normal uses or small skill bonus
Lights - further light radius?
Weapons - an addition to damage increase
Armor - an addition to overall resists
Chairs - This one will be tough. I was thinking make it so that a person has a higher chance to regenerate some sort of stat while sitting in a "masterpiece" chair
There are some craftable that I am unsure about. Things such as glass-crafted items, statues, tables, etc. I'm unsure about how these, if crafted as a masterpiece, could be beneficial to a player. Any ideas on this would be real fine.
Also, I was thinking that every item crafted that is a masterpiece would hold one sort of hue. I can see how this idea could have many bugs, but it was something I always liked, and I thought I would see what everyone else thought about it. It may be able to boost the crafting on the shard.
A Taming Event
I read about a similar event on the stratics site and I thought it was a grand idea. Basically, all tamers who were involved would have a certain amount of time (perhaps 1 or 2 hours) to tame as many animals as they could. Each animal would have a certain amount of points they would be worth. Something like:
Lower-end animals - 10 pts.
Drakes/Lesser Hiryus - 50 pts.
Dragons/White Wyrms/Hiryu - 100 pts.
I'd like to be able to add to this list, but I've never had a tamer character and I don't know much about taming difficulty. Basically, whomever tamed the animals that added up to the most points would win.
For judging, the GMs would have to have some sort of room available that each participant could drop their pets off in and release them. This way, at the end of the event, each "stable" full of pets could be added up and then the winner could be determined.
I'd like some input on this tamer event. If you think it is a horrible idea, please let me know. If you think it is fantastic and have some idea about point distribution per pet, then let me know. Personally, I love the idea, and I'd like to be able to create a solid set of guidelines.
