I contacted our host to make sure the educational hacking forum was ok as long as we don't actually hack others, and it is still not allowed so I have removed it. They were glad I was upfront about it and that I was willing to remove it. Chances are they would of not known about it anyhow, but still wanted to go by the book. People have a good time searching for ways to destroy our community, reporting my server was the first and most easy step. Now illegal activities will be required for them to get close!

Red, glad you ask the host about it. IMO, it wasn't a good idea anyway.

I want to learn more about computer security, but I think that perhaps I will have to wait.
If you want to secure your computer, learning how to hack is valuable, since you know how you would be attacked.

Yep. It's kind of too bad we can't have that forum, but oh well. I was better safe then sorry when I asked. Chances are we would of been safe anyway but did not want to take chances.

Even without that forum, IceTeks is still a great place!
Wouldn't having PM's with hacking material still techinally break the rules, since the PM is stored on this server?

Yes it would, it would be best to use email I think... no body can know about PMs so I would not fuss, but I do not support doing it since if they were to go into the database they could find it. It's stored as plain text and not encrypted.

Sorry for pointing that out then....
If any "trusted" person wants my e-mail, you can PM me for it.

Don't feel bad. When I first signed up at the pit, I put my email address in my profile. It seems I'm now on everyone's porn list!
I didn't know that people would sign up on forums just to pull email addresses. I'm pretty sure I know who did it...this person got banned from another site because the an Adm. suspected this person was pulling email addresses.

Sounds great. I can't really link to it from here, but I'm sure a sig link won't be too bad.

Yeah, it's simply because there are actually people watching our every move, so slightning bending the rules, they will report it. Bunch of RATS! (hence why his email ends with whiterat.net
)
That's exactly what happened with the server. The ToS for this site is scrict, they don't send a notice - they just delete the account.
