I just noticed a new option to block IPs from the site, but if I block myself, I won't be able to access it so I can upblock myself, so that would be a really stupid move!!!
I need someone who would like to volenteer to be blocked for a few minutes just so I know how it works. I'm curious to know if it blocks 100% server access, or simply gives a 403 error or something.
Please apply here - stay on since I'll block you right away then unblock you, so just try to access the site meanwhile, browse around etc...
Thanks.
Yeah, we need more trolls to test these things on...

Just say that you want to, and I already have your IP. Once I block you just try to browse around and when you get access again, just let me know what happened. (if you just could not access it, or if you got a error of some sort).

Not to worry, IceTeks is not bought out by Procter and Gamble yet. Guiny pigs come back, unharmed here.

Hmm so it's not a direct block then. Oh well. Trolls won't get far with that, but maybe good hackers can get past it. It's still nice to have that option though.

you know some with a dialup connection would just have to disconnect and reconnect and their ip would change. same with a dsl user with a dynamic ip.
the only thing you'd block is a person with a static ip.

Yeah, but I can also block ranges, but even then, isps sometimes own more then one range, or the people can use a proxy, but at least it's a temporarly manner.
For dsl, if they want to disconnect their modem for over 24 (that's how long it takes me to get a new IP anyway...) then it's their problem and the're the ones that will suffer with no internet durring this time.
