Anything Forums

i want my forum to show up higher when I search for it on google. I noticed in your post about iceteks showing up like 289 times, that got me excited . Is there any way to submit your site or change around anything? I'd rather not use metatags and I know that's a big reason why it doesn't score high.

You'd have to install the sitemap mod. I had it configured wrong so that's why it shows up a bunch of links with no info, but once it spiders again it will relist them again (giving me even more results )

Because a link such as http://www.iceteks.com/forums/index.php?ac...st=0&#entry3450
is invalid to google thus, it is not spidered. You will get an occasional page like that go on google (most of my articles are on google and yet they use links like that) but I never seen it happend on a forum.

The site map turns those urls into paths. For example, the above url is linked as:
http://www.iceteks.com/forums/show.php/act...ct/ST/f/2/t/465

To google, that is simply a normal path. You can easly name a folder "something.php" if you wanted, so that could easly be a bunch of folders. But show.php is a file in this case, and it handles the rest (not sure how, I did not make it, but I'll have to check out how it does it though... ) and the site map simply links to all posts, using these type of links.

It's not always like that though. But now that google discovered this page, it's spidering like crazy! As new posts are made, they will be added as well, and when google spiders again, it will find them, and most likely spider those ones too in case they get updated.

So let's say someone was to quote this post and put it in the google search it would most likely bring it up, if it's listed. None of these entries have actually been listed though. Heck, iceteks.com is nowhere to be found yet! It will soon apear I hope though.

Oh ok, so when I get my server finally running "smooth" Ill most likely be back here asking for some more help.

That's pretty much it, there might be other mods, but that's all I have here, and from the logs I have generated it seems to be working great. Now I just need to wait till it all apears on google.
