Yeah I find Win2K the best one.
I knew I forgot to mention one: Win ME.

I never used it, but I never heard anything good about it, so I would not bother with it.

Use Me at home on this machine, I think 2k is installed somewhere, but it might be 98 which is what I'm degraded to use at school. Haven't (miraculously) had too many problems with Me since I re-installed it for the fourth time...

lol that was my situation when I wanted to upgrade the other computer to win2k, the scanner did not work, I actually got the printer to work with a patch (once), the camera did not work, and the web cam ether. With XP, I can name about 10 programs including autoCAD, Photoshop... that did not work. To this day, that old one is still win98, but the one I use is Win2k.

The only thing I had to replace was the modem after going to XP. I was actually surprised to find I had some '97 software that ran with no problem.

i've found exactly one program that wouldn't run on xp, and that was a camera program that wanted hardware level access.
other than that, i run win2k and winxp home and pro.
you guys do know about compatability mode, right?
winme wasn't bad as long as you had all the drivers loaded, in the right order, and up to date. a clean install is a must with me.
