Hey All,
I believe in a practice of Full-Disclosure, and I don't think things that go on behind the scenes as important as what I'm about to talk about should be kept in the dark.
I've been on the team here at IceTeks, at Reliexec in general, for close to a year now. Though it may seem like I'm not involved in Reliexec (I was Vice-President for a while....), I have been active, making my contributions in the form of our original server's CPU, conceptual ideas and general content. I've provided support for the members in the Forum and tried to keep the peace when it comes to other tech sites.
Ahead in our future lies the possibility of a bigger business venture, one which would actually be an officially registered Canadian Business. It may be a year or maybe more off in the distance, and as much as I would love to be a big part of it from the planning right down to the paperwork and other not-so-fun stuff, recent developments and those which are yet to come may infact bring about my resignation as an Admin and Reliexec member.
As those who were with PC411 may remember (PC411 was IceTeks' predecessor) Red Squirrel came close to becoming involved in an international lawsuit stemming from activities which affected another tech site ( Which Shall Remain Nameless). I was not involved, though it came close, and I am not sure what part Red truly played in it, though I do believe that the other tech site had some convincing evidence. Anyway, long story short, Red eventually managed to clear things up in the form of a formal apology and the editing of some of the policies he had put into place at PC411. He also agreed not to post any content which would be , basically, an insult to the other sites.
However, it has frequently become an issue where he has posted things about them, in the instance of his voting posts, which can be considered defamatory. It is also evident when he called on of thier members, whom gained access to our site through legal ways, a "Bastard" for posting an archived copy of the voting topic on his own personal webspace. This sets a dangerous precedence on Red's part, and I expressed my concerns in an e-mail earlier this evening, about this topic and his recent attitudes towards other tech sites. Hopefully things will improve, and if they do then I'll be staying on as an IceTeks Admin and Reliexec Member. If they do not change, then I will be forced to step down and simply watch from the sidelines of the Internet.
Wish us luck, o members, and remember to keep the peace amongst yourselves and other sites. If all goes well, I'm staying around... I'll keep you "posted".
