AoAs

With the introduction of peerless bosses and craftable artifacts (not in yet, but will be soon) AoAs will be too powerful for it to be worth doing peerless bosses. Not all AoAs but lot of them.

So I want to do something to change that, but removing them is not an option. I don't believe in making an item obtainable then removing it.

Theres a few ideas I had in mind to change the revamp them and I want everyone's opinions on this:

1: nerf them a lot, make them comparable to tots, maybe even less good (the lessers, not the greaters)

2: Make chance MUCH lower then it is currently. Something comparable to doom artifacts perhaps.

3: make it so the only way to get them is through a quest that would require rare items, like a special ingrediant I can make drop on peerless or something.

4: keep them as is, but make em so if you are killed by a player, insurance won't work for them. So this would make them great for pvm, but not so good for pvp, for a full pvp suit you'd have to rely on other artifacts such as the ml craftables, doom, etc.

If you have any ideas feel free to share.

Whatever the plan is, it won't be put into effect until ml craftables are fully implimented. I will probably even give a month grace period so its not too suddent.

That would suck IMO. There are so many useful AoA's out there currently, that nerfing all the good ones would be too large of a change.

This could work. However, it would make getting a greater AoA almost impossible. With this option you may have to improve the roulette chances when putting in AoA's.

This could also work, although same issue as 2. though.

I think that's a bad idea. I'm not a fan of segregating items in such a way because they usually end up not being used and just sitting locked down or in a bank box. There are AoA's that are critical pieces of peoples' suits, brick of the magi being one just off the top of my head.

It seems to me that 2. or 3. with roulette chance modification are the best options right now.

I'm pretty sure you can put any artifact on the roulette and get GAoAs. Even minors. Correct me if I'm wrong Squirrel.
Make em drop on peerless bosses
Wouldnt work... the idea is making ML items actually worth it. Making them drop on peerless bosses would still make the ML stuff be useless.

My main suit has absolutely no custom items, so I dont have to worry if people decide to make insurance for AOAs not work... in other hand, my secondary (and most powerful) suit kind of relies on three GAOAs (essence of spellcasting, tiger teeth earrings and red wind gloves)

My suggestion:
Make the lesser versions cursed, with a 25% chance of comming as regular item, and about 5% chance of making them blessed.
4: keep them as is, but make em so if you are killed by a player, insurance won't work for them. So this would make them great for pvm, but not so good for pvp, for a full pvp suit you'd have to rely on other artifacts such as the ml craftables, doom, etc.
Or lets fuse my idea with this one:
If someone wants to use a lesser AOA for PVP or anything fel-related, search for a blessed version.

Yeah most artys can be put on the roulette but the only half decent chance is with AoAs. If I do reduce the drop rate I will increase the roulette rate.

dont listen to what brunus says... he is an idiot. He posts a lot and contributes a LOT, which we are all thankful for, but he still is an idiot.

Make the good lesser AoAs into greaters. BBlockade, Magi Collar, (put FC1on Barrier)Barrier, Deathrobe, wheel of fortune, robe of regen, Const boots should all be greaters. Get rid of the crappy lessers(deco, caster earrings{WFT those susk}) and lower the drop rate. Its still 1 or 2 per coon, which is a lot IMO.

You guys made the AoAs, now you have to deal with the consequences of putting them into gameplay.

Ill have to agree with DOC on most stuff he said... in other hand, I'd remove a few of the actual GAoAs to open place for the new ones he suggested... however, most of the lesser AoAs people use is either blessed or blessable, so thats not really a big of a issue.
Then again, if we apply exactly like DOC said, that stuff (death robe, construct boots) will be much harder to get. I say you add those AOAs to the GAoA list, but dont remove the crappy ones.

I actually want to add more deco ones as well but yeah some should maybe be moved to the greater category. I also don't want to remove any existing ones now that they are gettable. I don't want to pull off what OSI did with tots, I don't think it's right to add items then remove them and make them become rediculously high priced and hard to get. They did a even bigger mistake on demise by removing tots but not adding ML to replace them, stuff like kasa are pretty much required for a pvp suit and no longer drop.

Tots drop here and always will.

Decoration stuff should be added to peerless loot packs or demitel now IMO as it will motivate people to do the bosses.

GToTs on OSI are about 3mil per on OSI. 1mil or less for the crappy ones. They removed ToTs cause they have what, 400 players online on each server?

Honestly Squirrel, what I think (and I'm sure most other guys who know my point do too, like Nosferatu, Nish, Rat...) is that we made it so easy on the start. People could get stuff a whole suit in what, 4 days? AoAs wouldnt be sooooo discussed if they werent so easy to get in the earlier days.
Some of the guys
Hell, I still have two of those 100 uses brsk, and most people have stuff made by me.
Sure, I know some people worked for their stuff, but the rest just got freebies, or easy drops from when it was still being regulated.

Yeah before they were too easy, now its not too bad, but I will lower the rate once all peerless are in. I really like the quest idea unless someone oposes, not sure exactly what the quest would be, yet though.

Yeah was thinking that too. like "go kill 25 shadow wyrms" (random monster type each time) and while that quest is activated, you have the chance of getting a drop. The quest could have another reward so people don't do it just for AoAs as you would not always get one, but the reward would have to be something consumable and original. Same idea as powder of translocation, but something else. Activating the quest would have to require some work too.

I can maybe look into coding spirituality virtue and tie it into that (spirituality is all quests I think, some of which are kil quests)

On another shard, they implemented hunter bods. They were acquired just like tailor/BS bods from an NPC hunter but they had 10 skeleton, 10 zombie, 10 bone magi, etc... When you killed one of those, just double-click on the deed and then select the corpse and it would be added. Don't know how hard that would be to code though...

Hmm I like that idea actually, and don't think it would be too hard to code either. since the body should hold the type of monster it was, thats how animate dead determins what it should animate as.
