Someone should at least put the current client you need to login on the home page, I don't even know how far to update to and stop.

What client is Valor running on these days? When I decided to come drop in I loaded up the autopatch outta habit and got the client up to date then tried to get on and realized that I can't get in and don't know where to update too.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnndddddddddddddd after a year of gone or something like that (8 months after revamp was supposed to be live) it's still not done?

Well nevermind on the client version info, I'll be finding another shard. I am sorry to say that because Valor truly and deeply touched my life. I have friends from here that were closer than any others I've made in a game. Many good times were had on Vent while Dooming it up.

And for all of that I am sorry, but after leaving just at the "start" of the revamp sometime mid last year and returning almost at the beginning of summer this year with not being able to login. Well I hate to say it too you diehards... Valor is Dead.

Here is how you know Valor is dead.

1. You cannot login with a current UO client
2. The boards get so few posts that MY old posts (from 8+ months) are still on the 1st forum pages in some sections.
3. Loyal vets get banned for pointing these things out.

Anybody who knows my AIM or whom I know is welcome to contact me. But like I said I am finding a new home. This place is too much of a ghost town. The way it looks now creeps me out, it's like the last of you guys are ghosts and you just haunt this place. Creeeeeeeeepy.

And Red and Death (And ony if your still around bro), please donot take this wrong. You guys made a seriously cool shard. The best one I ever played to be quite honest. But this update thing... It's going too far... You need to take a step back and seriously reconsider the level you have taken this thing too.

Do not lose the war because you are too focused on the battle. In order for a community to exist there have to be members, in order to have members people must have access. All of the updates in the world are really not worth having all your loyal supporters defect or leave. All of the updates in the world are useless if no one logs in to see them. If you can actually listen to me (and the others who said it) you might still save the shard you have poured so much of yourselves into. If you do not Valor will be lost to obscurity.

I am not sure if there is a pulse left to the shard (I think it's dead).... I do know that NOT making it viable for people to login is like signing a DNR. If you do not charge the paddles and yell CLEAR now, Valor will die.

Ok, well I'll probably be banned for saying all that but as I said I'm going elsewhere. If I'm not banned I may try to drop back in in a year or two when the massive-super-duper-silly-big-insane-uber-content-package-of-DOOM is finally live or I might not. Good luck to you all, I wish you the best.

Actually we did not blow the deadline yet. It was projected for 2010. I never said when in 2010. TBH I was hoping for early 2010, but that was not the projected date. Within the next few months if all goes well we should be able to do a quick update.

Unfortnatly lately I'm being bombarded with people wanting me to fix their computers so it's delaying me a lot. I'm starting to see more Vista machines now too. *puke*

Ya, I'm still around in the background but up to different things in the meantime. I'll try my best to put into light your points:

1) You cannot login with a current UO client

Ya, we have fallen way too behind in this one, I know. I don't approve of having to use a severely outdated client myself. However, Red has stated that it is not in the best interest for the shard at this point in time, and I trust that what he says has some wisdom and truth to it, after all, he's the one who codes/makes the shard. The revamp has had a whole slew of mistakes attached to it, and very few triumphs as of yet. We could throw our arms up in the air and quit, but we continue to strive on. Many people call us foolish, but just like a phoenix, one day we will be reborn from the ashes to start anew.

2. The boards get so few posts that MY old posts (from 8+ months) are still on the 1st forum pages in some sections.

Pretty much similar to number 1. I won't say that the shard is "dead" as there are still people and interest. However, it has been weakened an unacceptable amount and there are too many variables hindering it from succeeding at this point in time. In order to bring it back up to a state it once was (except better), we do need to take some serious considerations to mind, and learn from past mistakes. We also need to tear down an enormous roadblock that prevents us from moving on. Red is working his ass off on that part.

3. Loyal vets get banned for pointing these things out.

This is a bit of a stretch of the truth. Numerous players have pointed out their upsets and dislikes about the current revamping progress, and they were not banned. I am not going to single anyone out, but I know at least 3 people who have expressed their opinions different from ours and pointed out obvious problems that have overtaken the shard. They aren't banned, they weren't even temp banned from game or forums.

Only 1 person was temp banned, for continuously berating staff and developers when kindly told to stop. Staff do not need to accept this kind of treatment. The point had already been discussed several times and we were clearly aware of the issues and working on finding a solution. In short, the 1 user was banned not for expressing their opinion, but for continued harassment. It is also important to note that said user was given 2 more chances to be polite and considerate, both of which were met with continued aggressive outcomes. I hope that one day soon, said player will restore their faith in the shard, and learn to let sleeping dogs lie; perhaps when there is actually something worth showing. If not, well, there are some players we don't care to advertise the shard to.

I hate to see any player go on account of being unsatisfied with the shard. That the revamp time line has come to this is truly regrettable but things do not always go as planned. We can only hope that the remaining players keep faith in the shard and believe that we still strive for excellence that has helped sustain the shard for its 2-3 year running.

I wish you the best in the future and hope you find the same joy on another shard, that you have found on Valor.
