Yeah, like they said. C'mon Red, make it so it is easy to connect to. We all know you are this computer genius and have multiple UO backups for every occasion. However most of us do not do that. We are lazy UO seekers who will play the easiest shard to connect to. If you could realize that, it would probably skyrocket UoValor's population.

Like I said a million times, once we are ready to do a code release to live, the latest patch will be applied. Once the revamp is over and has gone through some decent testing phases I will also mass advertise the shard.

Is it really impossible to reason with you? What is better:
- Wait until the revamp is complete and release the patch updates together. Hardly anyone new will join until this is complete. So we are talking like a year?
- Release the new patch now. It's EASY and will get new players on here NOW. It doesn't even take that much effort.
Tell me honestly, do you have 2 hours to spend on Valor to implement the new patch on live? Haven't you ever heard of the agile SDLC? It's a LOT better and more efficient than the waterfall model.

hmm... it makes you wonder, don't it? My guess is that it was voted for by a very stubborn rodent.

I could do it but then there would be lot of crashes, lost items, and other issues that have not yet been fixed. I do not work like Microsoft, I don't release stuff that has known issues.

TC1 crashes a lot, it's not ready for production yet. It does not crash when it's left alone, but if there's specific activity, it crashes. I still need to debug why, and fix the issues that cause the crashes. I believe it has to do with the lack of atomicity in the new save system. I am writing a storage engine to use in the place of mysql which will be better fit for the type of data (non optimized for a real dbms) and one of it's features will be atomicity.
So far this is going pretty well. But people have to realize, I work full time, own a house, and have a life. I hate using the "life" excuse, but it really does apply.

Other shards do not have the same save system as TC1 and accept the new client patch. I wonder why this is... once again, I will say, it is not that difficult. I wonder, are you purposely misunderstanding?

Lot of them push stuff blindly, then they get lot of crashes. Their updates also require hours of downtime due to lack of good process. Look at Demise. it crashes all the time. Shattered Legacy, same idea. They're using premade ML packages that have not been well tested.
Proper process management will avoid this. It may take longer, but after it's done, it's a better end result.
Also our update is more then just the client update. There have been massive changes made to the system and it's not ready for production.

I would Rather have a Few crashes then comstantly playing by myself or with 1 other person. This simple little thing that might make the shard crash like, once or twice and can easily be fixxed will shoot up the number of people on the shard. Truthfully Red, in all honestly you should put some things in before this revamp, because the revamp is taking a long time and because of it you next to no players. Just my two cents.

Man, I give up. This has nothing to do with pre-made ML packages. It has nothing to do with the custom SQL save engine. It has nothing to do with ANYTHING except the client patch the server will accept, along with some map changes

I agree man. It sucks that we had such a great server to play on at one time. Now some of us keep holding on, hoping that it will be as good as it was before. I think I could have recoded a UO server in less time that this fucking "revamp" has taken.
Just fix it so people can play with the latest patch... UOValor should NOT be a single player game. Red, why don't you understand this?
