Determining Parry Rate on this Shard

Post by Lymus »

FORMULA:
Blocking with a shield:
% Chance = (Parrying - Bushido) / 4 (If less than 0, the chance is 0)
(Add 5% if Parrying or Bushido skill is 100 or above)

Blocking with a 1-handed weapon (without a shield):
New = (Parrying * 10) * (Bushido * 10) / 48000 (Add 5% if Parrying or Bushido skill is 100 or above)
Legacy = (Parrying * 10) / 80 (Add 5% if Parrying skill if 100 or above)
% Chance = Whichever is highest of the New and the Legacy formula.

Blocking with a 2-handed weapon:
New = (Parrying * 10) * (Bushido * 10) / 41140 (Add 5% if Parrying or Bushido skill is 100 or above)
Legacy = (Parrying * 10) / 80 (Add 5% if Parrying skill if 100 or above)
% Chance = Whichever is highest of the New and the Legacy formula.

Dexterity Modifier if dex is less than 80: (80 - Dexterity) / 100 (If Dexterity is higher than 80, the modifier is 0)
Final % Chance of blocking = Base Chance * (1 - Dexterity Modifier)

If you give someone a program, you will frustrate them for a day; if you teach them how to program, you will frustrate them for a lifetime.

IN ACTION

I'm going to explain Siphon Squirrel's DCI:

SS Uses a Blaze of Death, which is a 2 handed weapon

Bushido=100
Parry=110

Since we're in New (SE/AOS/ML), we use the top Formula.

(110x10)(100x10)/48000+5%
(1100)(1000)/48000+5%
(1100000)/48000+5%
22.9+5%
24%

24%+45 DCI=69% DCI

WITH EVASION
69%+50&=119%

You can't hit me, loser.

Now, lets say we have a character with Legendary Bushido AND Parry

This will kick ass

(120x10)(120x10)/48000+5%
(1200)(1200)/48000+5%
1440000/48000+5%
30+5%
31.5%

31.5+45 DCI=75.5%

WITH EVASION

75.5+50%=126.5% DCI.

Suck it, mother fucker. You better have some HCI.

AGAINST SPELLS

Evasion is DCI/2

120 Parry/Bush build w/ 45 DCI=

126.5%/2

63.25% of me dodging your spells. That's half your MAs. Spamming newbs.

Keep in mind parry is the same on this shard as any other, and evasion does not YET work for spells, but I will eventually fix it. I'm thinking samurai's may become overpowered but we'll see. It's probably why Demise ain't fixing it since all the winey mages will be mad.

AGAINST A COOKIE CUTTER DEXER

100 Fencing
100 Tactics (10% HCI)
Like MOST people, doesn't eat

60% HCI (Base)
20% (GM Fencing)
10% (GM Tactics)
-10% (Starvation
-------------
80%

Since my Busher will have 100 Dex, instantly this fencer is taken down 25% of his HCI

80/25%=60% HCI

v.s. 120/120+45 DCI+Evasion

60% HCI
v.s.
126.5 DCI

Mathamatically, I'm parrying 50% of your attacks, dodging 25%, and getting hit 25%.

I can heal pretty fast with spells, don't worry. ^_^

dci is not chance to block!!!

pary gives chance to blok hit dci gives chance that he will miss you...

btw i have seen ppl complaining at uo.stratics foums that they cant even gank-kill bush mages who survive 6 flamestrikes and spams nerve strike with bokuto...

I know. I should say this is dodge more than parry, shouldn't I?
I believe RS WAS going to make a thing where DCI influenced Parry chance, so maybe I was thinking about that.

It's more like a 70% parry/125% dodge. That seems more right, wouldn't you say?
