A few questions

I'm new, just started up a character.
What's the best way to make some money so I can buy a LRC suit?
Also, I'd like to talk to someone in game, I have a good bit of questions about the shard, and I feel its easier to answer them in game. Vent would actually be the best, if possible.
Thanks,
Drow

There are several effective ways to make money on the server. Escorting NPCs with a mage who can use gate travel is not only an easy and effective way to get money, it is also safe. Crafting is also a popular way of making money as selling your goods and crafting rewards to players will often make you a fair deal of money. Players will also pay quite a bit for resources, particularly colored wood.
If you are looking to hunt, an archer, tamer or mage are usually effective to take down some monsters just be advised that the monster AI is smarter and less forgiving than normal runuo shards but it is not as brutal as OSI's monster AI. Sticking to melee only creatures and keeping your distance from them is a good idea (Hiryu give a lot of gold and are weak to cold and reptile slayer).
There is a public chat system in game you can use to ask questions if anyone is around. Back in the day, GM's would often use public chat as a quick way to answer player questions. Although there are currently no active gm's during the revamp stage, some players may still be of assistance. To use the public chat feature, type [chat or [c in game to open up the chat window. From there add yourself to the public chat channel.
There is also a Ventrilo server run by Onykage (developer and staff of AOV) you can log into but I am not sure the current active status on it so if you experience any problems with it, contact Onykage as he's the one who hosts it:
http://www.uovalor.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4147
Our contact information (In case you need to get in touch with a staff member)
http://www.uovalor.com/contentdb/index.php?sect=37
Players congregate often at the bank in Luna (Malas facet) so that would be the best place to meet somebody. The best responses to your questions would still be the forums as staff and uo veterans aren't always available in game but often check the forums periodically throughout the day and are more than willing to share their knowledge.
For any questions related to customs, please visit the content DB section of the forum:
http://www.uovalor.com/contentdb/
Hope that helps with any questions you've had

Got a few more questions:
1) How's the population on the server? I haven't seen too many people around.
2) How's the PvP on the server? I'm partial to PvP, and only PvM when I need to.
3) How hard are items/suits to obtain? Should I be ready to PvP in a week?
4) Any groups looking for an extra member? I find it easier to start off when you're with a group.
5) Where can I get a full spell book/ scrolls to fill my noob spell book?
This should do for now, thanks!

1) The population of the server is low, due to the fact that active registration is currently disabled so the server hasn't been accepting new players for close to a year. The server is under construction to make way for future plans and implementations so there have been less resources used on the live server as opposed to the reconstructed server. Once the major shard backbone is revised, the shard will slowly begin its developmental plan. Pretty much all details are available in this forum:
http://www.uovalor.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=22
You can check the current online player count the second you log on to the server (it will appear on the bottom left).
2) There are people who pvp and who love to pvp but with a lower population there is, of course, less pvp. That can be both, a good thing and a bad thing. It's great for those starting up as they can get the scrolls necessary to suit up before the shard changes start. Once we start advertising the unique shard features as well as adding in the missing content, the shard will pick up and possibly bring with it some adept pvpers. That being said, you aren't likely to find many pvpers for the time being but it does not mean that they won't pop in on your champion spawn.
3) Items are a lot easier to obtain on the shard. It will not take long at all to decently suit up a character. There are plenty of runic tools floating around to make wicked crafted goods as well as several artifact options. The treasures of tokuno event is active so you can collect artifact from killing pretty much anything there. Loot is also above what OSI provides.
4) I can't really say about this one but check Luna or ask on public chat. Any current active guild may respond to this thread as well.
5) There should be a white chest in Luna with full spellbooks as well as runebooks and necromancer spellbooks. These items will be of assistance to you but will not remain once the new player quests in haven are implemented so it would be wise to stock up.

As of right now, Zarathustra. Will be making Drow soon, just need to get established.
Spawning easier with a scribe mage or a tamer?

Probably a tamer but either or will work effectively. Mage you'll probably want high SDI and a slayer for higher end mobs whereas pets you'll want a more powerful pet or a combination.

Necros go well for spawning too. Wraith form works properly here so you leech mana when you damage mobs.

Once I get a foot hold here, I will be running with a necro mage. Always loved the temp for spawns, and its not too bad with PvP either (open invitation to raid me, PLEASE DO!). As of right now, I only have a scribe mage and a tamer with no pets
Gotta get some money first to buy up that 70's 100% lrc suit, then out comes the necro

I might have to take you up on this. Though that would mean I'd have to stop afk'ing in my house.

I'd love to see what the PvP is like here. Give me a week to get a 70's suit and a decent amount of regs, as I have no LRC yet, and I'll do one sometime.
Though it may be hard to drag yourself away from your humble abode
Oh and I'll be soloing it sooooo.... It'll be up for about an hour or more. Lots of time for you to spy on me
