Just added July 2 to July 8. Figured I'd start grouping them to make it easier to keep track as I'm not taking as many as I was at first since the biggest is done.

Yeah it would make a nice big fire. :D

I have to remember tomorrow I have to measure the future server room. I'm designing a wood server cabinet in AutoCAD but I need to make sure this thing will actually fit before I build it LOL. I'm assuming the ceiling is 8 feet high, but always good to double check.

This should be an interesting project as I never really built anything of this magnitude before. This thing will not only have to be strong and sturdy, but it will be optimized for air flow.

I'll post pics of the final plan later on. I still need to get some more experienced people to look at it once it's done, to get their opinion on how I am structuring it.

You should convert your crawlspace so you can have a cold aisle in it :D. Then you will be like a real data centre

That's the plan. ;)

The hot isle will be a bit different though. Way I plan to do it is the back of the rack will have a duct on top with a blower and the hot air will be thrown in another area of my house (not sure where, but I want to make good use of it to save on heating).

Throw it into the loft. Then get smallish celing fans to push the heat down into the rooms. Or just leave it in the loft to keep the house warm.

Whatever you do you will need a way to vent it out the house when it is too hot

Yeah if it gets too hot I can always have it go out the dryer vent or something. I'd have to get a Y pipe.

The house seems to stay very cool though, think it may have to do with the trees and what not. My fear though is that it may be badly insulated. I'll find out this winter. The attic seems fairly well insulated from what I saw visually, but not sure about the walls.

More progress today, well actually does not feel like much progress is happening lately, it's all the slow stuff, but we are approaching to the point where we can start plastering and painting.

More pics taken today:

July 11 to july 17

I cleaned out all the crawlspace now, finally. Just need to do the dungeon. That will be a creepy one. That's why I kept that 10 foot curtain rod...

I also started installing more lights in the crawlspace. Once the dungeon area is cleaned I'll probably even add lights in there, though that will require to build some framing as it's all concrete in there, the slab on top is the garage.

lol yeah, it's about 2k to get it done and it HAS to be done by a licensed electrician (otherwise I'd save part of my 2k and it would only cost me a few hundred). That's probably going to get done in next few years.

I'm out of breakers LOL. Might need to add the dishwasher circuit on an existing circuit, probably the washing machine. I bought 12/2 wire to be on the safe side and 10/3 wire to redo the dryer plug. I'll probably lower it more, which reminds me, I need to find some of those plastic clip thingies that hold the wire sturdy and off the metal edges when coming out of the panel.

If you bother taking baths at all, don't forget to insulate your bathtub!! There is nothing quite like a tub that holds heat for a few hours.

Toss in a bag of Epsom salts and a case of beer and you have a great way to recover from all that reno...

edit: those bricks could make for the beginnings of a great outdoor bbq installation...

Thought of that actually as my grandpa gave me the idea. He decided to take them and do that at camp instead though. I'll keep 20ish bricks for spares.

You could have done this http://lifehacker.com/5296731/build-your-own-pizza-oven

And that charcoal was probably an odour remover to remove any damp smell. And any damp it gets

Added more:

July 11 to july 16
July 18 to july 23

Today I finally ventured into that dungeon. The start was actually the worse, rest is not too too bad. Tomorrow I'm hoping to totally finish it, then I will need to do some concrete repairs as lot of it is cracking and stuff.

My mom also started to paint, so finally some real progress is starting to show up. In August I'm going on vacation and during this time contractors will do the rest of the work.
