I've been working on making registration possible on the forums again.

The captcha has been redesigned so that it's unique and will require spammers to code a new OCR, at which point I'll just change it again, and again, etc.

Also I will be implementing post validation, so that a moderator needs to approve new posts for users that are new. Once enough posts have been approved the user will then have normal access.

Also, inactive registrations 1 hour or older will be auto deleted to avoid the database from filling up with thousands of spam bot accounts.

Been caught up with other stuff, but this is almost done.

I've also been brainstorming a central logon/account system that ALL iceteks services/forums would use, but that's a whole other beast. For now it will be separate.

Got post validation sorta working. Have to make the moderator/admin buttons work. The user who posts as well as admins will see posts that need validating but anyone else will just see a blank post that says "pending validation". Most spammers wont bother to inform themselves on this system so they'll see their own post and move on to the next forum thinking they got victory, then when I come along I'll delete the post and nobody ever even saw it.

Topics will be tricky, so I'll work on those tomorrow and then actually make the buttons work.

This is nearly complete. Tomorrow I should be able to do some final testing then deploy the changes to live forum. Wont really be noticeable as it's mostly back end stuff but it will allow us to have better control over new members, including stopping spammers dead in their tracks.

Then back to SQL, which I may end up rewriting to some extent lol. Just the engine so that the rest is easier to code. Lot of optimizing to do as well.

I was on a set of forums earlier this week that had on the top of it a simple question I'm assuming to stop robots. Any how It asked me what letter came after C or something like that. Anyway we can use this in some way?

Yeah I have a basic captcha but as soon as spammers code the proper OCR to read it I'll jsut keep changing the style of it. that's the thing no matter how complex it is spammers eventually code bots that can read them. These people seriously don't have a life.

Onykage is busy with IRL projects and Crawworth is also busy in real life. I am currently redesigning UO Gateway's template. I am also formulating detailed reports for the crew on essentially everything UO related and updating mobile, item, etc etc information for accuracy.

I was going to do a UOGateway template but I struggle with the design ideas with nothing to go on. Hate that part of any project. Took me 4 months to design my own site...

About 1 week to code it lol

This is now complete and only needs a bit of live testing. (as we all know things never end up working the same once live :P)
