Ok, this may be intentional, but if so WHY?
I'm maxxed out on artifact chance now apparently.
Everything I kill in doom, room bosses or dark fathers all give me 10% artifact chance, and it stopped increasing at 10%.
This is at 350!! kills currently, sorry but I forget how long they've been giving me 10%. DFs for awhile, other bosses fairly recently.
But since I'm already getting kind of screwed (350 kills) why make it so I could get screwed pretty much indefinitely?
In other words, seems like artifact chance should increase until you get one. You still might not get one until 400+ kills but at least it feels less hopeless knowing that each kill gets you that tiny bit closer.

lol yeah same thing with ML and minor arties. You can easily kill 50 virulents and 50 lurgs at near 10% arti chance and not get a single one
Shaddow wyrm paragons and Balron paragons are also no where near the 14% arty chance they display. Unless the random Number Generator is about as Fk'ed as luck affecting loot in.
Atleast if it increases u know at some stage u will get the point where u cant miss.
Base AoA chance is also rediculouse with out the modifier u get from amount of time since u last got one.

Random Number Generator isn't screwed up, it's working exactly the way it's supposed to by returning a RANDOM number. Does not mean that the number is going to match or fall inside a destined range. Random number generators are cruel that way but that's how it works. If it were any different, I'd expect people playing the lottery would be very happy.
Paragon minor artifact chances have never been touched and are default runuo for artifact chances so whether it's accurate or not is up to debate, but it does not really matter as all artifact chances will be closer to OSI's during the revamp stages.

Random number generators results arnt reflecting artifact chance by a long shot.
Maybe the whole things needs looking at because ATM its fk'ing spastic. No point in arty chance being bigger and smaller on different creatures if they make no real difference to the chance of actually receiving an arty.
killing 30 balron paragons with 13% arty chance and not receiving minor arty for example.

Ok, here's how it works for people that refuse to THINK about it.
Boss dies, you have an arty chance of 5%.
When the boss dies, a random number is produced between 0 and 1, ie 0.732
Add 0.732 + 0.05 (arty chance) and you get 0.982. If 0.982 is higher than the value needed to receive an arty, POOF you get an arty. Thus, the higher your accumulated arty chance, the higher your chance of actually getting an arty.
If it didn't work like this, the formula would be something as follows (which would be highly spasticated):
IF #Gauntkills > 100
{
add.randomartifact
}
If this was the case you would know that you had to kill 100 bosses in doom, which would then just lead to people 24/7 farming. It would also take away a lot of the fun and effort.
Basically, your whinning because your "unlucky" well, MAN THE FUCK UP.
You aren't going to be simply given an arty by the devs because your complaining. We all know that the doom system works, there's nothing wrong with it. So STFU please......

Dont cap arty chances, its just a way to punish those who commit to working hard for arties.
At the moment someone who drops 1 - 2 mobs is just as likely to pop and arty as the guy who has killed 300. The comments about gauntlett in the general section are proof of this.
The system doesnt promote reward for hardwork. It promotes pot luck. Thats an insault to those who work hard IMO.
Fair enough make it possible to pop an arty on kill number 1. But maybe the guy with 300 kills should actually have a much better chance rather then a 0.00001% of a better chance. Rewardinng his hardwork not insaulting it.

Everytime you complain about arty chances, this is detected, and your chance is multiplied by 0.1 each time.

i am making sugestions. Something to encourage effort and stuff not just pot luck and arty chances not reflected in arty drop.

Not being 100% sure exactly how the arty dropping into your backpack works, but I can make several assumptions based on facts:
1. You kill monster
2. The server generates a random number between 0 and 1 (3 significant figures)
3. You have already killed 100 of these monsters so have already accumulated a 3.25% chance.
4. 3.25% is actually 0.00325 in real terms, binary doesn't work in percentages!
5. The random number and the arty chance are added together.
6. If this resultant number is 1 (remember, numbers above 1 don't exist in this instance) then you get an artifact.
From this I can summise that eventually you will get lucky and get an arty.
People keep saying, I've killed 100, so I should have one by now. NO!!!!! The chance is not 3.25%+3.25%+3.25%, but in fact, it's 3.25% on every incident, they are totally unrelated as far as the server is concerned. So effectively, you might actually NEVER get an arty drop. I know it's unlikely, but in the realms of possibility, it can still happen.

Something like that, if I recall. And yeah, it's random, not guaranteed. Two different things.
When I played Demise and lost my dryad bow because I used it on another char and did not have auto insure turned on, I spent my whole march break (was in school th en), 12 hours a day in gaunt and never got a thing.
One night later I went for like 15 minutes and got an artifact. So it's not based on how long you spend, it's purely IRL luck and a very small modifier based on kills.
There's more to UO then just trying to get every item in the game...

LoL So your saying the system favors pot luck then not time spent.
very encourageing. Why not let people script then since effort counts for nothing and towards nothing?
A system that rewards effort instead of sheer luck would seem a better idea. That way I know sticking to it with my guy is gunna pay off if i put in the effort. Otherwise people are encouraged to run 6-10 accounts because pot lucks favors high numbers of chars rather then effort spent using much fewer chars.
Surely that can be seen as a benefit?

If it was based on time spent there would be an over population of every single arty, making it useless. What do you want, for us to just hand them when you make a new char?

Time spent killing gauntlet bosses increases your percent. In other words, the effort you put in to killing bosses rewards you with a step closer to getting the artifact, it does not guarantee.
Gauntlet is not broken, nor is the RNG. It has been designed this way, since its introduction in the Age of Shadows. It exists the same way on OSI (different point accumulation system), where you kill and get more points, there IS NO guaranteed artifact drop only an increase in chance as your kills go up.
The system itself is often seen as being unfavorable, but it is working exactly as designed.
Yes, not everyone agrees with "random" drops. I am one of these people. However, that's the way the Gauntlet and many hundreds of other drop systems are designed. It follows the same stale trend of "kill and hope for goodies to drop".
Now, an alternative system (Not saying specifically for Gauntlet, I am saying in general), would be to avoid the random and base on effort and time, as you suggested in your post. What's involved:
-An accumulation of points which are based on different variables. Major variables include TIME + DIFFICULTY + EFFORT.
-Upon obtaining these points, they can later be traded in for some kind of reward (Some title, artifact, special item, gold w/e).
The closest existing system this can be related to would be the treasures of tokuno, where you have to collect 10 treasures which you can trade in for a better item. The peerless system is also, somewhat close as you need to gather the ingredients to craft the items.
In conclusion the point I'm trying to convey is the random aspect of all these drops is exactly as the name suggests: "random". Roll a dice and hope to get a 6, if you keep getting a 3, do not blame the dice.
The alternative plan is to get a dice that always rolls the 6, but you have to run an obstacle course before you can reach it.

As nice as that would be, it's not UO. UO is all about chance. In the past month i've done about 70 spawns, in those 70 spawns, I've had MOST 120's, but I still lack about 10. I'm not going to be QQ'ing that the ones I'm missing are broken and never drop. I know they will drop eventually.
Futher to this, I've had several 120 lore, taming, anat and chiv's that have all been gambled. They don't actually have a higher chance of dropping than a 120 magery, but that was my luck on the day
Shame, but as Death said, it's the roll of a dice, a very big 50-sided dice, but still the roll of a dice.

He also, assuming he was talking to me, didn't even actually address what I said.
He just picked what he thought I was saying by skimming my post, or having poor reading comprehension, and harped on that.
