This might be a little stretch but I was thinking maybe if you could make NPC tamers that could tame and transfer creatures to their controller. It'd be really helpful for those creatures that can be controlled but not tamed without taming. Of course they could have a cap on their taming, that way you can leave a few of the better creatures that require higher than gm taming stay a little harder to get. Meh, just a suggestion :]

Kind of foggy on the details. Are you saying that there should be an npc you can hire to tame pets for you such as giant beetles, horses, swamp dragons (Basically any that do not require taming skill to control)?

Yeah exactly. That and then other creatures that are controllable based on other skills like the yoshis or any other creature that does so. (I can't really name any others off-hand)

I have noticed a lack of blue beetles here on valor, everyone rides ethy mounts instead. Perhaps having them for sale would be a good idea.

The Smuggler Beetle is easier to get so there are more of them about...

Although it's not a bad idea, there are some flaws in the respect that you would be taking away a market from tamers. Often times, tamers will tame pets in order to sell them to players. I'm sure quite a few players on AOV have sold some beetles or other pets to make a profit.

In the future, AOV plans to add a system that would do two things:
1) Allow players to purchase a tamer's pets without needing the tamer around
2) Give a better market for player pets to the tamers

Basically tamers would be able to convert a pet into statuettes for the purpose of sale on vendors, making it easier to sell pets without having to set up a trade time and location. Players wishing to purchase a pet would be given all relevant information on said pet such as skill requirements, its stats and abilities etc etc.

Like the lore Info would be in the item description so you could see it on a vendor? (IE, Hp, Strength, Resists, Damage type, and Pack Instinct)

Yes. Because pets vary in stats and abilities, they would either be shown on a hover label or some other context menu that can be seen by potential buyers.

Whether or not the tamer would need sufficient animal lore (GM or higher) or not to be able to sell animals with attribute tags is subject to thought. There would also be methods in place to prevent the 'Pokemon' effect of being able to toss a statue pet from your bag at any given time (Will likely require the user to have sufficient stable slots as well as be close to a stable master before claiming).

PVP? GREATER DRAGON!!! I CHOOSE YOU!!!

It would probably work if you had to drop the statue on the stable masters head and it went in your stable from that. Similar to handing a quest item in

Just double clicking is best I think. Dragging and dropping onto something leaves too much error for drops
(Anyone who has tried to drag gold or bod quest bags on an NPC will know what I'm talking about).

lol yes.

This is a good idea in theory but I would be worried as Death said people using them like pokemon pets.
Would be cool for tamer vendors to tame a blue beatle, shrink it and place it on a vendor though.

I have heard of things such as hitching posts which essentially let you remotely access your stable. Perhaps we good expan on that and make a sort of vendor hitching post. You put something on the vendor like a BOD book for pets. It lists stats and a price when you open it up. When you go to buy a pet you have to have the skill AND free slots available on you. Then when you buy it its like buying a pet from the NPC stabler (Like a horse) and it basically spawns next to you.

The tamer could load the pet book or hitching post from a stable location, but like a bod book the pet could not be bought unless on a vendor. (You can remove the bods but for the tamer to do this it would go into his stable, granted of course he'd need to have slots available in his stable.)

Basically just make it so that buying a pet off a vendor unshrinks it and the person buying has to have the control ability and free slots to do it. Otherwise they cannot buy it. And make it so that removing it from the medium it's shrunk into unless it's bought off a vendor directly stables it.

It wouldn't really be an issue because of the checks that would be done in place in order to claim. You can think of it along the same lines as claiming commodity deeds. You cannot do so unless it's from your bank, so there's a restriction of location. In the case of statuettes, your claim area would be a stable master.

OSI currently has this system in place where you can access your stable from your house VIA charges. Only problem with that right now is there's a limit to recharging and after that, it's unknown whether you can recharge it or not. I think the best bet is to just have a stable master charge you a fee for shrinking your pet, based on how aggressive a pet is (So like, a horse might be 20gp but a reptalon might be 1k).
