Update [April 6 07] - wither/holy light caps

*You do not need any valor virtue to activate champion spawns, and it will not cost any valor. This is because champion spawns will not auto activate if there are already 3 active ones on the shard, so instead of being forced to try and find them, you can still activate one without needing valor.
* Wither damage has been capped to 7 damage on players.
* Holy light damage has been capped to 10 damage on players.
*armor pierce, armor ignore and DS are capped at 35 even with evil omen. Because of the nature of how this works, there is a slight chance that the cap does not take effect. But the ods are VERY slim. Basically right before calling the damage function a cap value is set on the victim so that way after evil omen and other damage modifyers are called, it checks the cap that was set and resets it to 0 and lowers damgae if needed. But if any other form of damage is given between the time the variable is set and the time the damage function is called, it will cancel out the cap. But we are talking nanoseconds here.

just curious, but why the cap on wither? its one of my main defenses against ratboy when he raids the champs I am doing.

Oh I saw it in action (in general) and it's sick how fast it is at 2/6 but rather then nerf the speed which would be bad for spawners I just nerfed it for pvp. It still serves as a crazy disrupt spell though since its nearly as fast as MA and does area damage so if you have more then one person on you.
I gave my tanker a gm hat on the test shard (so I had 2/6) and I was able to kill my admin char which has about 100 hit point regen and full 70.

it was a good idea to nerf it on duels, it is crazy when people are confined in a dueling pit. but remember, a guy doing a champ will most likely be on foot vs a raider that is mounted. that is a huge disadvantage. Now you have made it where they have to fear to run in and do a special move on me, since wither won't hurt them as much. I do coon more than most people, so this is a big change for me. I don't mind raids, and my character isnt too bad at defending. This really turns the tide against me with the nerf to wither.

lol thanks doc... but ya wither can be pretty leathel... its fun to try and get htis in on ppl... its like a half way suicide attempt
and the ai nefr was nessesary... but for u hector it wont really effect u cuz ur not a necro.. u always did dmg at 35... so bascally ur fine.. just necros really... red has one so hes getting hurt from it =P
the problem with ai is that every time with a archer i get hit by a ai... thats how i lose with my mage most of the time
but over all its fine...i like it

Yeah keep in mind only evil omen + ai will be affected by this, or if you blood oath the person AIing you, since evil omen and oath both increase damage past the cap, it has to do with the order things get calculated.

I dont really agree that a wither spell would do less damage than a holy light spell i think max holy light should be 5 i mean .. withering someones body seems kinda painful to me and holy lighting seems like idk it just doesnt seem to me like holy light would be greater in pvp damage

Holy light has a very short range compared to wither. Furthermore, holy light requires a paladin to have 4/6 to actually be useful. Wither can be spammed ultra fast at 2/6. Also, necromancers have the luxury of wraith form and wisps giving them close to an endless supply of mana to continually spam wither. Wither versus holy light, wither wins as being a lot stronger, a larger range and can be spammed easier than holy light.

Yeah pretty much. Even at 4/6 its not as fast as wither. I think the way I have it now if two people were to spam both spells the DPS should be about the same. I just roughly calculated it when I came up with the values.
Oh and there was a crash bug I overlooked. It's fixed now.

... lol. No, holy light wanst ever, EVER, meant to cause damage. Its supposed to be a disrupt spells, if its to cap something, do it equaly. 10/10 please. Also, while necromancers have the luxury of wisps, paladins have the luxury of dispeling ANY summon, ANY monster without even having to target an area, just holding "dispel evil", leaving the paladin untouched till the monsters re-target him/her.
Wither probably got capped cause I used it too much. lol
Also, you had ALREADY nerfed wither to a range of 3 tiles, it burns hella alot of mana, and now the cap to 7 damage? :/ There goes my main defense against over 3 guys at once.

Holy Light, 8 Damage, 55 skill required, 2.0 delay

The unique chiv spell that disrupts swing speed is remove curse.
Theres no necro spells that do the same.
