Update [feb 17 09] - Small exploit/misc fixes

* Fixed an exploit with the notoriety system allowing players to be harmed in trammel facets
please report any issues you may find with things such as:

- Land mines
- Instant or "field" area of effect spells (essence of wind, wild fire, thundersturm, conflag potions etc...)
- Other abilities that cause damage to non direct targets

* Fixed an exploit allowing players to walk on water if using a modified client. This had to do with a modification we had to do for seahorses to work, but turned out this modification worked for any mount. Added code to make those mounts only work.

* If you die on water (ex: with seahorse) your body sinks (Uninsured/Unblessed items are lost), and you are teleported to the nearest shrine, instead of being stuck.

* Empty accounts no longer auto delete, later on I will just set them on a timer instead (ex: 5 days)

Body sinks? Can you still get your uninsured stuff back?

Nope, it's a trade off. Instant resurrection at the nearest shrine VS uninsured items being lost, so you'll have to go grab some more bandages or potions.

Yeah it's easy to fish/fight and stuff off water, so it has to come with a risk as opposed to using a boat.

But imagine epic pvp battles on seahorse. :D

I would like to say that that stinks. I would like to voice my objection to this immediatly. Anthing that destroys your body and chance to get your stuff back should be avoided at all costs. I am most definately against this body sinking thing.

You'd think getting stuck on the water would be worse and anything that's uninsured/unblessed should be indispensable unless we've overlooked something.

Can you use the staff of moses to get to your body if it sinks but has not decayed yet?

Once a corpse has sunk, it cannot be retrieved.

I don't like this either... was there any technical reason why this was put in?

So if you die on the water, you don't get stuck.

Seahorse: Quicker and better mobility than a boat, but if you die on a sea horse, your body hits the water, thus would sink.

Boat: Slower and harder to steer, but you die on the deck, thus your body would be on a solid platform instead of sinking.

That was the reasoning behind it. Also, it fixes up the "getting stuck on the water" part which was the main reason for the update. Finding your body on the water is also a hard task unless you calibrate your location as everything looks the same way out in the deep.

Not in Sosaria (It's all the mandrake in your blood stream, makes you heavy). It's a trade off to balance boats VS sea horses and it seemed like a neat effect to put in (Try dying at sea if you're bold).

Of course, it's still experimental but I wouldn't expect your body to get transported with you to the shrine when you die. It's also not the last case where a death can cause your body to be destroyed (Harrower).

bodies float for a bit but as it begins to decompose it starts absorbing water, thus becomes heavier then water, and sinks. Also the typical sosarian diet has lot of iron.

To save on server resources we decided against simulating a true body decomposition, thus speeding up the process.

sweet idea. You know just to "salt the wound" here, It would be cool if being your dead (dead things at see are fish food), that sharks would appear to shred and eat the corpse.

And it would be a pain of a system but create a sos of sorts that allows the body to be fished up later on. Might get some bandies, might get a whole suit, who knows.

Power scrolls.
Levi Artifacts you just got right before the spawn kills you.

It is not possible to get stuck on water. I don't care who said that. There is the help I'm stuck feature outside of dungeons. And other players could help you out in a dungeon.

Honestly losing your body pretty much means that seahorse is now useless. Same with staff of moses.

Hell I used to fish using staff of moses but Im not going to insure every sos as I loot it just because my pck goes poof if I die. I can get back to a body in the middle of the damn ocean with staff of moses in time to get my body after using help im stuck to get to a town or after I get back out there with another character on a sea horse or boat.

But now, one of the few things I found amusement in doing late at night while everyone else is afk is gone. Just one more reason not to come back and start playing more again. Doesn't take many to keep a semi retired player retired.

Why would you seriously be using a seahorse to escape with power scrolls? Besides, if you die with a power scroll you've already lost it.

Leviathan artifacts are a different matter, but it doesn't take long to insure it or send it to the bank. Besides, you should kill the spawn around you first.

What will people think when harrower explodes corpses? Also, let's not forget that there's a maximum allowance on the "I am stuck" option, not to mention shame fel has water and does not allow you to exit via that method (Yet).

The sos argument is a valid one however, as that can be a pain in the arse for those who haul a large bunch of them so we may reconsider the sinking option and return it to just floating on the sea.

body contents get saved and have a random chance of being in the treasure chest of ANY sos pulled up.
