I am fairly new here, been playing now for about a month. I am just curious if using my stealth/lockpicker is the best way for a new player to start out. I am currently trying to suit up my necro/mage and sampire and will need to amass enough gold to buy the suits and scrolls needed to finish off my characters. Should I just continue lurking around dungeons, popping chests to amass my fortune? Or is there a better way to outfit my characters?

Just in loot I've been able to equip my necro/mage with 100 lrc 40 lmc 45 dci suit but its highest resist is a mere 41. He is a lord and I have been trying to accumulate aoa's in fel, but to this point I have only acquired a wheel of fortune.

My Sampire is 40 dci with highest resist 38.

I've tried with my crafter to do the tailor and smith bods but have not been able to snag any runics as of yet.

I am having a hard time getting started and any advice someone is willing to give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I remember in my early days of UO, I used to kill solens and do the quest over and over and just kill all solens (not just the ones for quest). They drop decent gold for their difficulty level and the gems sell well.

Bod quests work well too though they are harder and they are hit and miss, but you can score a nice prize.

If your looking for easy gold, make yourself a lumberjack and do the boweyer bod or carpenty bods.

Easy money, just takes some time and effort.

What was the exacpt template? Just a toon where you ran in, grabbed stuff, and recalls out basically? Any defensive skills?

Also what were the best dungeons without the highest risk factor?

You can make a lot of gold doing the bow crafting quests, as well as selling colored boards to other people.
If your looking to do the lock picking (which is how I started) I would go with:
100 - 120 Stealth
100 Lock picking
100 Hiding
100 - 120 Stealing
100 Mage or 65 Chiv for travel
I don't do any fighting with this char. I stealth in and stealth out. You can pick locks and empty chests while hidden. Lower level dungeons yield the best loot. Take a bag of sending with you. Most of the time I just find a safe spot and log out in the dungeon.
It wouldn't take much to switch to a stealth archer once you get some better gear.

Thank you all for your advice and replies. I will continue to use my lockpicker roaming the dungeons until I can afford to suit my characters. I'll also keep at the BOD quests.

This game looks pretty sweet and I will be sticking around for some time. Thanks again.
