As far as I know, this doesn't exist, at least on AoV. But it would be nice to have some sort of tool for lumberjacking that does the same as the mining Prospector's Tool.
It would both tell you the wood that can be found and bump it up to the next level. Since we got the Reapers' Axes, it seems that it should be there.
Of course, there might be a reason why there isn't a tool like this for lumberjacking, but I honestly don't see how it could hurt, and it might actually help.

It was talked about as well as gloves to increase lumberjack skill above 100%. Not sure yet how we will incorporate it into the game.Nexus Graveheart wrote:As far as I know, this doesn't exist, at least on AoV. Well, couldn't it be easily added into the carpenter quest reward list?
I may sound a bit dim-witted, but it seems to me that it would drop similarly to the mining gloves and the prospector's tool.
Although I'm not sure if it would be a pain to code, so forgive me on that front.

Thats probably how we'd make it drop. With the shard revamp a lot of the back end stuff will change making it easier to do this. Right now stuff like mining gloves and ash hammers are actually hard coded right into the skill. So in the mining skill theres actually a check to see if you are wearing those gloves. It's really brutally coded. What I want to do is add a special +skill property that works over the cap, that way we can do it with any skill we want, on any item, without hard coding stuff anywhere.
That would enable us to possibly have special +fishing rods or something, that go over. The possibilities are endless.

+ Begging Shirt that make you look rich from the front and then when you take the money and run makes you look your true form from behind, with stains and ratty rips!
Of course, this is all from a roleplaying perspective...but it'd still be fun.

Well it all depends on what the future holds. We could make them quest reward items (Kind of like how these are rewarded: http://www.uoguide.com/Category:Quest_Rewards). As the quest system holds tons of possibilities for lesser items with a magical use or "cool" factor.Nexus Graveheart wrote:Well, couldn't it be easily added into the carpenter quest reward list?

My GM Lumberjack feels terrible at LJing with all the 'failing to find any wood' and I'm like WELL I CAN'T GET ANY BETTER!

Lemme just say that being able to craft +skill jewelry for every skill would be bananas.Red Squirrel wrote: What I want to do is add a special +skill property that works over the cap, that way we can do it with any skill we want, on any item, without hard coding stuff anywhere.

you'd smelt gold pieces for ingots. 100 gold for 1 ingot.
you'd need to have the appropriate amount of skill in tinkering and mining.
gm mining and gm tinkering for +5 jewelry, 105 tink for +10, 110 tink for +15, 115 tink for +20 and 120 tinkering for +25 jewelry which would be max.
there would be a very tiny chance to make these magical jewels...like 1:250 and even then it'd be scaled toward the lamer side of things like begging and herding.
jewelry would be changed in the crafting menu to use the new ingots. the recipe would be 2 ingots ($200gp) and 3 gems of any type for one piece of jewelry with a minuscule chance of it being +skill magical.
