To me this would a helpfull addition to Chiv since most of my resource gathers are swords. Not sure how hard it would be to code but it sure would be nice not having both chiv and magery on each char. just a thought.

It's not possible to add custom spells without forcing use of scrolls as they are cliloc/client side based. However we have plans in the future to possibly add a rune marking tool. Not sure yet how it would be obtainable, if through a recipe, vet reward, or maybe donation. Think we'd make it a recipe. (peerless)

I have plans to create a 7 step quest to obtain the tool. It will be rechargeable with runed switches. It will make its entry into the game once the quest framework is completed and tested.

Cool this tool would be nice to have in my case, allows me to free up some skill points.

Well seeing as recall is a common spell for all classes and runebooks are pretty much essential to travelling, it does not make sense to restrict marking to magery itself.

Magery is a great skill to learn as it will definitely save time from doing the quests, but if you don't play a mage and don't have a reason to make one other than to mark runes, then it doesn't make much sense in that respect.

This tool may not be available for awhile so I would recommend making a mage and marking the runes you need or asking a player in game to do it for free or for gold/items.

But also dont forget that mages can use remove curse tallys to achive the same effect. Not to mention Marking is not a combat thing so its in a way different ballpark for balance issues.

balance is crucial, but im quite sure that this issue has been widely thought over by death and red, hence the use of a new tool. Not to mention

and also, chiv is a paladin ability, thus the very idea suggests that his/her skills would be combat based, not passive.

Remove curse talismans and eventually remove curse apples once red finalizes the property system (Actually, come to think about it, I already coded those in, just didn't send red the updates to the cooking menu). I'll probably release them when OSI does publish 56 as enchanted apples will have the stackable ID with that publish.

Both these abilities can be used by non-paladins. The different is there's a timer in between use so a paladin would have the benefit of instant-remove curse but other classes would still be able to benefit somewhat.

It's been the way it's been forever for a reason, Paladin's gaining the mark ability sort of contradicts numerous countermeasures that have been in place for years.

Not to mention that AoV's skillgain alone along with 3 accounts per person or household or whatever, leaves very little deterrent from creating a mage, even solely for mark abilities.

It wouldn't be added to chivalry as that's not really possible or worthwhile. It would be a tool you'd obtain through a long quest process (Kind of like going elf to human).

It wouldn't deter from making a mage as you would go through all that effort to get the tool when it would take less time to make a mage that could mark (not to mention the tool would be recharged with runed switches which takes some time to make and also gives a market for sand).

However, for those who may not have slots left or 0 desire to make a mage, it would fill a void where the mark spell is.
