I agree with Doc. Don't give lots of stuff away. Just make sure you log in every so often to keep your houses from falling. Eventually, you'll want to start playing again. It always happens. I've known very few people who have actually quit UO for good.

Don't quit, just take a break. That's what me and death are doing. Later on we'll get back into it again.

I'm actually looking forward to Darkfall. Maybe something new to run a server for. Though it will probably be illegal... UO is really the only game you can emulate legally.

Think, UO and world of warcraft, combined.

It may be another MMO rip off I'm not sure, but it does look pretty good:

Actually, it's a violation of the EA terms of service to use or make available UO to anyone who is not playing (and paying) through the service they offer.

They've just basically turned a blind eye to free shards. Although some people think that KR and the new SA client coming out next year are subtle steps by EA to put an end to free shards.

Yeah that could possibly be actually. It's still a gray area but they arn't shutting them down. But KR shards are a different story I think.

But there's even WoW shards out there, so think it comes to a point where if the game has been out for a certain amount of time it becomes legal, or lawyers don't care as the company made their initial money and have an initial player base, so not like its taking away.

EA just may have a hidden agenda there with the KR client. It seems that they are trying to discontinue the 2D client so free shards will get the axe. However, they seem to be having trouble dropping the 2D client because so many seasoned UO players prefer using that client and despise playing in KR (Although the graphics are quite an improvement).

Free shards give EA ideas anyways, and I have no doubt in my mind that many free shard implementations are copied in official servers.

Yeah, I don't think the 2D client will ever be dis-continued, barring a huge success with the new SA client, which is supposed to be an updated KR-type client.

But they are releasing SA to work with the 2D client, so like you said, it's gonna be hard for them to drop it, because so many players like the way it looks, and will refuse to play if they are forced to move over to the new client.

Ya in fact some things I'm positive they even took from this very shard. That IDOC house placement thing with the rubble for example. They have a very similar system now. It was put in maybe a month after we had it here.

Could be coincidence mind you. There was a few other things too that I can't recall now.

I'd have to check the runuo distro then, maybe I DID code that lol. I code so much I forget what I did and what I did not do. :P

Bet if I install Runuo svn and would be wtf at the stuff that's missing.
