NEW RULE - Scripting

This is a new rule that has been added. It's always been in place but never really made official so thought I would do so now:
13 - No intensive scripts to help make pvp automated. That includes bots or scripts that try to exploit the server in various ways such as trying to cast or faster. Scripts that allow you to PVP with 2 characters at the same time are illegal. This includes a mage crosshealing you or an archer helping you pelt an opponent. PlayUO is strictly disallowed and anyone caught using it will be permanently banned. Scripts that can assist pvp are ok, but anything too intense that brings too much advantage will be looked at. This is a case per case basis.

As far as scripts that assist pvp being acceptable, would that include bandage or chugging scripts?

Bandage, chugging and other forms of healing are ok. Stuff like mass mini heal loops, ma/fireball loops are not acceptable though, but they're kinda useless on this server anyway as the spell timers have been changed to help reduce scripts like that from being possible. Basically we try our best to code stuff at a server level to make it very hard to script so lot of things wont even work properly anyway, like pot chucking scripts and so on.
Basically anything you can do by hand, is ok to script at the same speed as what you can do by hand.

pfft, healing scripts are lame :/ mages have 50 hotkeys, dexxers should be able to hand more than 2...

Personally I prefer doing stuff like bandages manually. I used to script bandages but I find it can really screw you over specially if your template has casting to it, such as a necro archer. When I used healing on my necro I used to pain spike or strangle myself so often due to bandage scripts.

all the more reason to take away healing scripts! people need to learn how to use keys.. especially the kind of people that play freeshards (90% of which are vets)

What if I am using a pvm script that allows two archers to attack mobs with no intention of pvping... someone raids and get hit by both my archers, will this put me on the ban list?

I would recommend just having a function to stop the script or something. But I suppose as long as the script is not automatically attacking the target you attack then its not really doing anything if it does follow. But that would be a grey area.
Personally I'm not too fond of multi clienting like that,but that's just me.

As red said, multi-clienting like that is a grey area because of the PVP potential. Even if you don't have time to close your script, you might be tempted to fight with both clients simultaneously which is an unfair advantage towards those who are pvping with only one character. All it takes is word of mouth or one of the staff members to notice before you need to explain yourself.
Point being is we don't want to discourage players from using scripts to make things a little easier and a lot less tedious (Mining or other gathering). But if the script is being used for an unfair advantage such as massive resource hording while away from the keyboard, simultaneous fighting with more than one character or client or being used for any other unacceptable purpose, then you should not be doing it.

I agree that this is a grey area in part because the archer script was never meant for pvp...but they will auto attack if aggro'd upon...just like leaving a tamer out with all guard command, whilst running around doing the heavy lifting on another toon... if a raider attacks the tamer the pet goes after him

mosin healing scripts in my opinion r fine (if im right about what a script is ) they should stay there people who rely solely on hotkeys need to learn to play ewithout them makes em better all around hotkeys r to me shouldnt rely on them i use 4 hotkeys for a necromage if its using a mage weapon 6 dexxer uses 2 thats all he should or needs to

makes me remember the days when we would fight brunus in bucs. I would put my archer in the middle of bucs with longshot set on dismount, then chase him around with my mage. If I seen him mounted, switch back to archer, hit dismount button, then back to mage... fun times.
