I have lumberjacked 12k of regular wood, 6k of oak, 3k of ash, 2k of yew and so on and not 1 amber and i'm chopping till there is no wood left in the tree. Is there like a certain chance percentage of getting one? also i have lumberjacked both fell and tram seems strange to me since everyone i talk to gets them.

The gems and other rares are hard enough to get. As for the wood itself thats in the works, the chances are still a little off. As elf you do have better chance though.

The problem with wood and ore is the way the condition is laid out for the veins. It's in a multi-condition where all previous conditions must be false before the final one executes. This is why valorite and frostwood is very hard to find. The percents are also not as accurate as they should be. The gems however, are dropping at the right intensity as they are meant to be uncommon/rare. In a few hours of mining you should get maybe 3 or so.
We have a ticket opened up for this and it's on the first page of our development list now that those other fixes are done so chances are we'll be getting to that fairly soon.
Trammel and Felucca does not impact the chance of getting a rare resource. The only thing the facet does is give you more chops of wood or more ore. It does not affect your chances of receiving "colored" or "Special resources". Race is the only thing that can increase your chances of that (Elves find more than humans).
