Could there be a slight delay to it applying? I can't tell you how many times I've wtfpwn'd my self because some fag lich decided to BO me the instant my flamestrike hits. I don't even get to see the red cloud or anything, I just take 250 damage, at 65 resist and die.

OSI applied a formula to blood oath so it's not so bad anymore. I posted it but it wasn't such a big thing so it was probably put on the backburner.

That's the beast of blood oath. When a mob decides to use it and screws you over by timing it right when you are 1 millisecond away from hitting it. That's why you need to be careful with necromancer monsters.
For the most part, if you're not constantly tanking a monster you will see the blood oath being cast (If you're too close tanking something, it may be inevitable that you end up killing yourself before you even notice the blood oath).
When mantras were working, you would be given some time to react but those had to be disabled because of OSI client patching screwed it up. Also, not every creature with necromancy recites a mantra. We might be able to add some kind of delay where the blood oath only begins after the spell effect ends but that only gives you about 1 second to react.

I believe red made blood oath resistable to prevent monsters and players from spamming it so when you become blood oathed, you experience some relief time before being hit by it again. Also, the intensity of a monster using blood oath on you is reduced in the necromancy AI as it was a lot worse than before.
If you still have that formula, feel free to post it as I don't recall posting any oath formulas in our bug/maintenance tickets. Could be I missed it or red might have implemented it already.

its bad when a monster oaths you and your arrow is midflight. It used to be REALLY bad when slayers stacked, 400+ damage.

I've had a few battles with the shadow wyrms oathing me when my SOS was EO1'd and I had achieved perfection. Apparently they didn't want me to have that luck bonus.

that would solve 97% of the problem. the damage from fs only hits when the animation finishes, but blood oath applies before the animation.
thus i FS the target and he leisurely casts a suicide BO to take me down with him.
