I have an idea.
This comes from a cross between Parasite Eve and Final Fantasy 7. Don't known if the one will work, but the other should be fairly easy.
Perhaps, (this should definately be in Felucca too, to allow for raids) there could be a tower. Not sure how many stories you can make something as a GM though, but this Tower would be 15-20 stories high. Each level you enter is a different set of monsters, with the passage to the next level up efielded or something so you can't get through until all monsters have been killed. This stops stealthers from just going all the way to the top. Of course with each level getting more and more increasingly difficult. With each spawn, completely RANDOM. That way, you can't necissarily prepare for each floor, you just have to enter the room, hit a switch, and the spawn comes.
When the switch is hit, both the exit to the bottom floor, and the next floor is blocked off, but by a means that would allow dead players to escape to the bottom to enter a res gate, and come back up. If a spawn doesn't have any action for x period of time (something like 20 minutes) then it disappears, and you have to kill the spawn before it again, so on and so forth. So it kinda works like a champion spawn, except the levels of monsters would get absolutely retarded at the very high levels.
Now, at the 2nd to top floor there would be the DOOM INQUIS puzzle! Except, at the center of the room, it allows for 3 people to be transported up, with a res gate in the corner if you fail at the puzzle. When the 3 people are transported up, they are randomly confronted by 2 Random Bosses (Dummed down of course, because there's only 3 of them), that have a 75% chance to drop 1 of each of the best artifacts in the game. Or some other prize you would see fit. As well as, a random artifact (not the best necissarily) would spawn on a pedestal as a stealable. So if you have a thief in there, you get that one for sure. So each person that does damage, would receive a 50% chance.
But thats not it for the people left in the puzzle room! A random boss also spawns for them, with say a 10% chance to drop an artifact.
Also, I would forsee a "safe" room on this floor, with a res gate to allow all dead players to keep going. BUT, if the bosses are up for more then say.... 45 minutes, they say something like "What kind of challenge is this!? You BORE ME!" and then leave, and you get teleported to the spawn room before the puzzle room.
Every floor would also have a gate in a seperate room that would teleport you outside to get res'd, or leave if you have to. Treat it like a fel dungeon, so no recalls or marks or anything like that of course.
Also, I would make it that only players who have done damage to monsters on the current spawned floor will be allowed to move up to the next floor. This will make it so any stealthers can't just sit back and follow the crew along.
Also, each floor has the ability to be exorcised by necromancers to get rid of any player ghosts.
I have no idea if this would work, but I think it would be really cool. From most of what I've said, it doesn't sound like it would be that hard. What do you guys think?

The max of levels you can have is 4, other wise the house will get pretty much bugged. We can use one of those useless dungeons though.
But well, if its 75% chance of the best artys, them release Demitel already lol and yes, that would be pretty complicated to code, something to look into.

Not to be a grammar nazi, but...
According to the link to dictonary.com, wouldn't it be either The Desultory Tower or The Tower of Desultoriness?

It would work like the guantlet but teleport you to the next room. Doors seal and when all monsters are defeated then boom next room. Should be able to adapt guantlet code. With the exception of guant bosses have it bump the number of monsters that spawn. Guantlet is set up to spawn a set number based on number of people in guant. Just jack the number up and swap code for say fleshrennder to say deamons, succubus..... This could be a themed area say. UNdead first room, deamon next and so on with final room a boss random instead of DF. I think it could be done but would take a lot of work.

Actually gaunt spawners are configurable so I could use those, though to make it randomize the mobs then it would require to recode parts of it. Instead of a tower it can simply be a hallway in one of the dungeons like trammel khaldun which is not actually used and it would have a house building used as a wall between each section. You can probably go about 5 stories max with houses until you hit a "black void", this would be done by placing a house on top of another.

Then layer it like the dungeons, each time you go up a level you simply go accross the map a bit :>Red Squirrel wrote:Actually gaunt spawners are configurable so I could use those, though to make it randomize the mobs then it would require to recode parts of it. I thought it all up today while I was typing it, new ideas popped into my head.
I dont know if it would work, I wonder maybe if we could set up a random trial version, and give it a test run? you have a test shard do yo unot?

Really what I can do is take the doom spawner script, copy it as a new script, and add some fields to it for randomization. So instead of one creature field I can put 10 and it will spawn a certain number of that type (could also add that as a field). Since that would work perfectly, have a door that locks, then it unlocks when that section is done. The door would lead to a small room with a teleport that brings you to the other side. (so it's a 1 way deal) and at certain intervals there could be a camp with a banker, mage, etc for supplies, but it would be limited to make it harder. The tricky part would be the timer, where it resets, but I'm sure I can figure that part out as well.

Yeah the maps are the same, the server just makes it seem like two maps. at least I think... since haven is actually a bit different then fel, in fel it's another city there that I forget, and it's slightly different. But other than that everything matches. Khaldun tram is actually inaccessible though, normally.

Actually, theres a completely unused dungeon exactly east of Despise. Use it, but use it in Tram since the fel one will be Demitel's lair.
But yeah, that actually gives me an idea if we use Trammel's khaldun, since I made it somewhat look like a reception room.
