The different stages of IDOC are as follows:

Like New: 1 hour
Slightly Worn: 1-2 days
Somewhat Worn: 1-2 days
Fairly Worn: 1-2 days
Greatly Worn: 1-2 days
In Danger of Collapsing: 12-24 hours

does this mean every few days my house will collapse?

No its a 3 month timer before that starts I believe.

Your house only begins the decay stage after 3 months (With the exception of luna housing where inactive houses may enter the decay stage earlier due to it being prime real estate). After 3 months of your house not being refreshed, it will begin the decay process and start at "Like New" and go all the way to "In Danger Of Collapsing"
