hi i have some suggestions about ur ctf which depends my older ctf experiences
tbh i believe a script "which makes everyone wear 60 resists/100lrc/some lmc/some mr robes and no mod sc nopen weps edpends on targets skills (if target has archery+80 he should have all archery weps in his inventory, if he has alchemy he should have pots etc)" would make ctf more funny bc everyone will be equal and newcomers can enjoy that too.

as second, ctf s main point is that U CANT LET OTHERS GET UR FLAG bc U CANT CAPTURE WITHOUT UR FLAG AT UR BASE. so it would make it more funnier and u cant make that much points. So if someone carries ur flag u have to kill him, and survive than capture.

Also if u think that he can run away and u cant kill him.. If u have opposite team's flag and ur flag isnt at base, so u cant make captures for a while... flag should explode and kill u if u cant make capture for a certain time. i believe this way ctfs would be funnier and will require more teamwork. i dont enjoy to steal ur flag and come back and capture even u have my flag lol.

ps: sorry about my grammer mistakes if i did any, english isnt my first language

also a board for listing ppl with most points (based on captures/returns/kills/deaths/team wins) till least points would be nice
one for ctf and 1 for factions :p

Those are things we'd like to add eventually but those are very hard. To make people have different equipment would require to remove all clothing of each player, keep track of it reliably, then put the stuff back at the end. I'll eventually figure out a way to do that, but it wont be easy.

For gumps, those are a pita to make, as you need to do all the x/y coordinate stuff, compile (which takes a few minutes) then check to see how it looks, if stuff needs to be fixed, fix it, recompile etc.... just the basic gump you get at an event probably took about 2 hours to make.

Eventually I want to convert the shard to a mysql database, at that point I'll be able to actually make all the stats web based as html/php is way easier to code then in-game gumps (and more versatile).

Oh and making it so you can't capture a flag while there is already one captured is something I'd like to do as well, should not be too hard, just a bool value to flip on/off. I'd probably make it so you can't even take the other flag period, unlike Halo where you can have two people running with the flag but no one can score, but they dont want to drop to kill each other so it ends up stalling the game. This would be a flippable attribute so some CTFs would have it, some would not.

u can make flags potable i mean if someone wears it on he wears it on and flag goes with him instead of that torch stays at base
i have few scripters friends that i can ask help for scripts

you could just make a set of shoes that has all the max mods, and it drops in the person's pack. If they don't want to equip it, so be it. Basically all that would be over and above would be weapons, since they have hit spell, leech, hld/hla, etc.

Ya we know about the flag capturing thing. We'll be working on that for the next stage of ctf. We're thinking of adding that in with a sudden death mode where if nobody has won after a certain amount of minutes, then it turns into the current playstyle (Where as long as you have an opponent's flag, you can score).

We're also thinking of the possibility of having disarm work to knock the flag off your opponent for people who melee (Because it is kind of difficult to catch up without ranged attacks I know).

Also, about the flag being too small to see, we can look into finding a larger item to take the flag's place. Torches were initially the best idea.

The reason we chose the torch is it's equipable and it looks decent. If we chose a bigger image, we would want it to be equipable. We might be able to pull something off with flags where equipping it would be like carrying a black staff but when dropped it will show the flag's ID.

To take care of the Armor part of the CTF let people choose the type of template they are doing and then it gives armor as according to mage/fencer/archer/ and so on

I like this idea.

For example, a ninja suit would be ninja items (Like pants, mitts and hoods). Would give great flexibility and regenerations and be easy to stealth in but leave them succeptible to attacks.

Mage suits would give really high mana regen and lower mana cost as well as SDI. The energy resist would also be through the roof but their resists to physical and poison would be lower. Things like mage hats cloaks, etc would be a big part of their suit

Warriors or paladins would have plate armor with great resists, DMI, SSI and possibly a bit of LMC. They would have poor regens and be heavier.

Well what makes it hard is keeping track of current player equips, then giving them back properly - this includes all items in backpack so people don't try to cheat the system. If I can figure out a reliable way to take care of that then its as easy as having chests with various event special jewls/robes that people can pick from.

Ya make sure dexers have all plate so they cant stealth around. Only thing might be is you might have stealth dexers or in my case stealth lockpicking mage ninjas. So I guess you could do basic templates for choices are maybe get a little more detailed say mage/then ninja or Ninja/ dexer or mage. Like Teir 1 mage/ dexer/ Theif Teir 2 of each of those necro/ Fencer/ Mage and so on. Also You could require only a theif can get the flag similar to factions. But being a small server this might work out.

Idea for equipment is you must be naked to be allowed to participate. Ive seen on a few servers where everything goes into a bag and into the bank. I would also make everything cursed incase some how people figure out how to bring this stuff out of the CTF.

There would be suits you can pick from, each having their own pros and cons. So say you're a mage, you don't "have" to go with the mage suit. You could go with a ninja suit if you really wanted to.

The thief thing's a neat idea, but as said before, it wouldn't work. That would be forcing a template into playing an event that is meant for all fighting types. For anyone who's played Wolfenstein Enemy Territory and loathed it when you had to get off your covert ops because none of your teammates would go engineer knows what it would be like.

The armor sets would likely be tied to a region or have a delete method in their deserializing. Ideally, when the event ends, there would be a check that would delete those item types, preventing somebody from taking them with them.

Well, it doesn't feel right to me, either. The rope solution did not work. Engine is way to heavy. Maybe I need to go to the gym first ; )
