You should try playing when it is early evening in Australia, I am generally the only one on. :( I really only have 10 hours a week to play.

And the mob i was killing to get stuff to start up and equip my chars has been boosted so that i die a lot of the time and its spawn rate seems slower than when i first joined 55 days ago.

I don't know why but I just have a funny feeling about all this. Hard to explain. There is a conspiracy theory somewhere that I'm not aware of... too many long-time members have suddenly quit for no given reason.

Dont forget Goatmaster we did Balrons last saturday nite ALL NITE and didnt score a thing. Uber slow spawn, reduced modifier and no AoAs.

Interesting that we could farm champs no probs and get heaps of shit...if only we could get the shit to deck our characters out in.

EDIT: my post was a reply to Goatmaster who deleted his post.

EDITED EDIT: Goatmaster reposted LOL

Here's the conspiracy theory: We start playing here like 55 days ago. It takes us a week before we figure out the best way to create characters here and also just learning the general stuff about the shard. So we want to horde AOAs to get good suits so we can play and have fun, and also to use them on the roulette to try get greater AOAs.

We start doing the Balron spawn at fire temple and we do okay with our CU’s and manage to get a couple AOAs in one session, which was great but even we didn’t think that was too much. I’m talking an AOA maybe every 1.5 to 3 hours?

But then you did something to it to change how powerful it is and it now gives less modifier chance. Now when we sit in a session doing the Balrons, we not only have it tougher and are killed more but we have much less of a chance to even get an AOA, 3+ hours between one at best.

Now after playing this for 55 days and you go and do that to us, I don’t know what we’re expected to do here? Is this a sign saying piss off to us two? Hope to god that whatever we kill, you won’t one day decide we are too good at it?

He told me via msn to not say anything because I’ll considered a whinger but I have a question, was the change you implemented planned and on schedule or did we provoke it???

No its a sign that if u want to get stuff u gotta have a certain play style. If you dont fall into the preferred play style then you have fuck all chance of getting anywhere.

It may be worth mentioning you need to move from spawn to spawn, not just stay at one mob. Because your chances actually don't increase as much as it would if you were to run through a dungeon and kill things.

Like, it's not wise to camp the Bally in Blood Dungeon. However, everytime you kill him, run around the dungeon and kill a few other monsters. Then, your chance will skyrocket. It's coded like this to prevent idle camping.

Yes, when I do Balron, Ancient Lich, White Wrym, Destard cycle chances do increase and we get lots more AoA.

I guess if I want to have a cone and a beer with a mate and play UO we are better off playing on an OSI shard. Who wants to move around or think lots when 'relaxing'.

Ah yes, this thing you describe above that I have felt many times. Too many times, in fact, that I just don't play anymore. After months of playing, everything I figured out a good way to do I just started to get afraid to have a GM watch, because they would just change it. And... they did, every time. Really, what's the fun in that? Staff would say, "That was too easy, we had to change it to make it more challenging". Or they would say, "That was a bug and we just didn't get around to fixing it until now". Whatever, maybe that would work on a newb to the server, but I've been here for over a year and know better. Just a hint, the best games sometimes have some hidden or hard-to-find techniques to be able to make hard things easier. I think it was the change to double-slayers that just was the last nail for me. It's funny Red was saying, "No one could ever get that high damage anyway". Kidding much? I'm not sure if you were just being in denial/naive or just flat out lying.

Oh, and I really don't give a crap if people think I'm whining or not. This is my opinion and if you don't like it, save your pixels.

See, my intention by making things harder here is trying to make an economy, one step involved in this is making stuff hard enough to get, so its actually worth buying. Also, a game gets boring FAST when everything is easy. Balrons were WAY too easy. I mean come on, on any other server, even a ratman is harder. Monster melee here is very low compared to other servers. My regular char can tank paragon balrons, even after the change. He's not all that ubber.

So if you can't kill a certain boss because you're all in 30's resists and did not even hit skill cap yet, start lower, go kill stuff in tokuno, get tots, kill stuff in tram anti virtue dungeons, get 10th anniversary artifacts. Go fishing, go pick chests... theres more to this server then AoAs.

Remember Super mario? As you progressed levels tended to get harder, and you'd run into stuff you never really seen. It made you want to go further.

Now imagine if instead, you had to beat level 1 500 times to get to the princess, then the game is over. That would have been boring after having done the same level 10 times.

Also most of these changes are not really provoked by specific players. We as devs play too and sometimes notice stuff thats too easy.

In fact theres lot of stuff I shake my head at but know that if I change we'll loose more players. Stuff in general is just too easy on this server.

Thing is...you add custom mobs that are badass and hit really hard and have a lot of hps and resists. ...but you leave us with the same old damage potential as before. We should be able to obtain epic items to do epic things to combat epic monsters.

Seriously, I went with a friend to check out the Demitels...we would die in one hit usually. Not fun y'know. This is why I farm tots and occasionally search out an AOA or 10th anniversary. Even the crafting system bores me already. I've only been here for about 2 weeks and I'm sick of having to mine my ass off for 300 verite just to get 2 bods and some fort powder. There should be the option of old fashioned bods as well as the quests.

or at least bring back non random resources so that i don't have to waste hours upon hours for one damn quest.

Squirrel, I'm SO glad you made that example. I bet if you were the dev on Super Mario World and saw someone flying through most of the levels in a blue yoshi, you would have nerfed it. Don't deny it, you KNOW it's true!

lmao, I'm sorry but that was a pretty good one Red.

So people want things to be easier to get? I got no problem with that. I know of a good way to do that too. As for the Balron thing, that had nothing to do with the players. A change Red had done to the melee damage formula reduced their melee attack from 40 to about 20. Same idea with black order assasins, they were hitting like 6 lol.

Balrons and AW's aren't the only monsters around though. I've gone around and loaded the felucca dungeons with plenty of small/mid-end and high monsters. Hythloth, destard, and shame are pretty decent bets. Killing mid creatures (Like daemons/dragons) en-masse is actually better for your aoa chances than repeatedly killing balrons. Ice dungeon is another decent spot. Ice fiends, arctic ogre lords and white wyrms *drool*.

Well I've been playing a tad more recently. Although, for being active for the first time in months, as soon as I raid one champ spawn I get "You know you are the reason people are quitting this shard?"

LMAO sad really.

And, they wont get raided on another shard? They should be happy to see potential for pvp on a small shard...

New update: Champion spawns are now peerless

Quests will be re-arranging a lot of things and getting noob armor and lesser craftable arties will be something rather common. Some quests will also give special items to help you along.

I realise I'm not the most active member on this server. But, dammmn. I swear to god, as soon as you present a challenge to someone, they cry. Here's the thing, AoA's are, as they say, artifacts. They SHOULD take hours to get. I want you to go to an excavation site, and see how long it takes for them. Sure, it's a game, but at least have some realism. Yes, I realise most individuals wouldn't make more than one artifact, but maybe if you looked at the lore to AoA's you'd understand why there's multiples.

ToTs, in my opinion, are not "treasures". When everyone and their grandmother has multiple GToTs, they're rather common. But, that's what you all want. An easy button. If you really want to get an easy way out, get on the test server and [add yourself every arty in the game, and [add a bird to kill. Maybe then you'll be satisfied with it's difficulty.

OMG Red you HAVE to move the edit button from the quote button. I accidently nuked eby's post (lol sorry eby, I meant to quote but the damn edit button's too close).

Reminds me of the time on demise I killed this guy in the felucca solen hives. He had been doing the quest all day, harvesting bags of sending and powder. I got like 15k, a ton of gems, some zoogi fungi, 3 bracelets of binding, like 8 bags of sending and 100 powder. That guy must have been pissed.
