I'm trying to make the transition from Demise. Trying.

Mining. Where can I mine, near to a forge, that doesn't have enemies lurking to kill me? My fave spot in Ilsh has a damn lich. Minoc in Felucca, an earth elem. I there a safe spot to mine at all?

Hunting. I had a White Wyrm. It was fully GM. I attacked a Paragon Meer Eternal with it. The damn thing ignored my Wyrm's mana dump and repeated beatings to eat me. Three times. How are you supposed to vet a pet if you can't be near to it?!

I shouldn't be getting LRC 19 or 75% mod items off a damn BIRD. Seriously...

I like to work for my loot, I enjoy hunting things that don't eat my tamer and ignore my pet. Aside from tailoring and sheep herding, what can I do?

Forgive the terseness of my post, but I'm pissed. Demise is a good shard,(if you ignore the damn staff and the assholes) AoV is MUCH better. AoV has more diversity, wonderful custom items etc....but how does a new player fit in when he's alone in the world?


...and more importantly, why is there an earth elemental in Minoc mines?

This shard is much more spawned then Demise, and monster AI is WAY better. Every time I pvm on demise, my IQ goes down by 10. The AI there blows. Check DF here for comparision. Or changelings... (twisted weald not not advisable as new player )

Though I've been wanting to figure something out so vetting is more easily done, but have not had a chance yet. Since I see what you're saying with that. Though pets being smarter will tend to attack tamer more. They will also sometimes decide to lock on a target. doing DF with a group of people can sometimes be interesting. Totally radom standby person will get explo + FSed + painspike, etc.

As for loot, RunUO loot system is pure crap. I have plans to redo it one day, and loot will be more regulated. Right now its basically, make all loot suck, or make it all ubber. Theres hardly no difference between low mobs and high end mobs even though it appears so from code. When I add instanced corpses I'll probably also redo the loot system. Tricky thing with it is it ties directly into runic tool system.

While lot of code has been reworked theres still quite a lot to be redone or improved.

Ya for some odd reason there was an earth elemental spawner there. I removed it as it was not supposed to be there. I can check the Ilshenar area as well to see if there's a spawner that should not be in that area.

As for the loot, the loot packs were bumped up a while back because they sucked originally. However, the loot system was poorly designed by default and is constantly being tweaked and nudged so that the loot is better than it was before, but not outrageous (Ya a bird dropping 19% lrc should probably not be happening).

Also, taming is always being revised to make things fair and to prevent cheap tactics (Like sending your pet to take out half an army of tough monsters without even healing it). We're currently looking into methods to reduce the chance a monster will turn on you if you are paying attention to your pet and healing it. However, taming is a very sensitive topic so changes must be done in stages if they are to be put into place. Paragons especially love to target others. It's built into their AI.

We understand your concerns and are glad that you addressed them (Like the earth elemental thing). We will do our best to address these issues and fix them up in time.

Many of the points players bring up are good points. Some things we don't realize or did not think of until a player points them out. That's how things get changed, through player experiences and player points.

and many of us bitch but .... sometimes we have a point other times were just rambling on ... lol but most of the time anybody will help u if u ask if u see me on ill help if i can i have multiple chars now and if u like to do black smith and all that stuff lol well i got some masterpiece ingredients i can give ya cus i just collect it and store it in the bank as for the ore thing u can smelt on a fire beetle right ? ill tame u one sometime tomorrow after work if i remember if u see blackswan swansong or anything with swan in it be nice thats the wifey and she already about threw the keyboard today cus she didnt set up the macros right and i did it for her......... lol but annnny who welcome have fun if u notice most of us is in jla and also if u need a place to stor stuff i can co own u to my castle outside of luna. i have a forge and nvil there as well

Have you gone to the Compassion Gypsy Camp? Run past all the rat men, and nothing is there. Even has a bank in the northern half.

Some people prefer the solitude of dagger (ice) isle for mining. Only polar bears and walrus around. Maybe the occasional ice snake, can't recall. There's also a resurrection shrine there if you die. Seeing as it's an island, you'll rarely get disturbed by others.

If you head far, believe it's south from the western bridge in Brit, you'll come to a large rock passage. If you don't go through that, there's a nearby anvil to work with. Suggest Ice Isle over Brit Wall because of the Sanders Spawn.

Also if you put like 10 camping on your char while mining you may run into coal ore. double click to light, it can act as a forge. You can also use explosion pots or fire spells on it. FS is usually good to start it up as well.

Yes... come to Ice Isle. Its the best place for mining. Especially around the 2 houses that spell THUNDER across their roofs.

Could always use the north minoc mines too unless you have a house there too lol.
