There is a delay on it (kind of like magic arrow) to prevent gimp use of it.

explo was never ment to stack, and no it was not your "signature move" Tons of people do it on servers that still run the old code, and on servers like Demise everyone did it until it was fixed.

I am not the least bit mad. Dbl explode is lame anyways and gives mages a huge advantage, especially if they have a pre-cast in a field fight. It's much more balanced that we don't have it here.

Can someone explain how explosion is different from energy bolt, for example? I could have a precast one of those too, and if I cast it again, it would hit just as fast as a double explosion. The casting times are the same for those two spells. The only difference is the delay. You can just as easily fizzle an explosion spell as you can an EB spell...

Major difference is when first one hits the person realizes he's being attacked so can start to fight back, with explosion, this only happens once the person actually got hit with at least one so by that time you can throw another spell.

As mentionned, it was an abused tactic thus it was removed. Same idea as evil omen paralyzing or other gimpified tactics back in the day (riding swipe chaining).

Doesn't the message, "You are being attacked by ..." show up at the same time as the person is targetted with an explosion spell? Or does it show when the explosion actually hits?

People don't precast explode and explode anymore. They precast explode and flamestrike. More mages means more flamestrikes.
Not that much different.

Shows when it hits. thought I've thought of just changing it, but then I can imagine how many people would be mad over that since it would change their tactics. Ex: if you do it to an archer then they'd be aggrowed right away so it would probably disturb the FS.

If you have time to throw a FS, the guy deserves to die.

Ok so my original question still stands, how is a precast Explo, then Energy Bolt combo any different than a precast Explo/Explo? Really, I'm trying to understand. Either way, you will be hit by an explo that you did not expect...

Explode+Explode does not instantly say "You are being attacked by X!", it gives both casters about a second and a half to cast energy bolt. Explode+Explode+Energy Bolt+Energy Bolt it far worse than Explode+Energy Bolt, then being able to defend yourself. (Particularly as an archer.)
Is it any worse? That's up to your builds. If you're an archer, you prefer it without Explode/Explode. But, if you're another mage or a necro--this goes double if you're in vamp form-- you really don't get a bonus from either one besides the damage subtraction.

Sorry, I don't follow that logic. Here are the two scenarios:
1)
a) Precast explo off screen
b) Target player
c) Cast explo again, player already targetted
- Player sees only one spell being cast, but unsure who is targetted
- Player gets hit by an explo in 3 seconds, then another explo 3 seconds later
2)
a) Precast explo off screen
b) Target player
c) Cast EB, player already targetted
- Player sees only one spell being cast, but unsure who is targetted
- Player gets hit by an explo in 3 seconds, and an EB at the same time
Casting times of both spells in both scenarios is equal. In scenario 2), the damage comes on much faster. In both cases the player gets hit by an explo they were not expecting. What is cast after is irrelevant. What am I missing? Is the casting time of explo less than that of EB, or something? Or are you saying that the delay on explo is so much that you can pull of two explos and start casting an EB before the player knows they are being attacked?

The difference is I'm refering to having two mages, where you're refering to one. Your logic's probably better, because I shouldn't assume two mages.

I also assumed a spawn raid. Typically, it's not a one person raid. More people get into the fun of it.

Its simple, two explosions is a longer delay, if i just kept spamming explosion's eventually your going to lose count of whats coming because the delay is worse than an energy bolt.
A server hosting billions and trillions of players over its time removed it knowing its a major problem in a game that they didnt take into consideration.
So why would we want that back?
