Update [Apr 06 08] - Ninjitsu changes + other misc fixes

* Furniture dye tub now lets you dye stuff without having to put it in your backpack as long as you are in your own house. It can also be used to dye trash barrels and house teleporters

* Green thorns now spawn something, fun, in lava. (hint: try tokuno volcano)

* Added some new ethereal vet rewards. Some at 180 days and some at 210.

* Added two new vet rewards, a 2 house slot deed and 3 house slot deed. The 2 slot one gives your account 2 house slots and the 3 slot one gives it 3. (does not add up, so you cant use a 2 slot to get 3 then use a 3 to get 6).
9 months for the 2 slot, and 24 months for the 3 slot. Yeah I know 24 months is a lot, but think about it, thats like 3 houses per account. :P So only the most dedicated and senior players will get that.

* Disarm now has a 10 sec imunity period. If an imune user performs a disarm, the immunity is removed. Ex:
Player A disarms player B. player B cannot be disarmed by anyone else for 10 seconds. If player B disarms another player, then player B can be disarmed even if its been less then 10 seconds.

* Runed Switches now charge magic wands (not fireworks wands, but the ones that you find in chests)

* Tracking is no longer needed to perform any ninjitsu abilities.

* Backstab and supprise attack now give a 5 sec delay before being able to use a hiding ability

* Deathstrike damage has been simplified to only take into account ninjitsu and distance moved. The OSI deathstrike formula is something you would see on a year 6 university level calculus exam as a bonus question. No reason to make a spell this complicated to use.

* Deathstrike damage cap has been raised to 60 if the player runs and 20 if player stands still.

* Some damage caps have been changed. DS can now actually do 60 if the player runs. The direct damage cap has been moved. This *should not* affect anything but please report if you see anything not right. Tthings that are capped at 35 should already be capped in their own code, so there was no use having it twice.

* Stealth now requires at least 80 hiding skill, and has a 2nd skill check based on hiding. Hiding at 100 will give you regular stealth chance.

* Did lot of other various formula tweaks to ninja abilities and fixed other functional issues

* Fixed bug with vendors not allowing blues to buy in fel

* Changed a few rules in the area spell harm calculation. Karma/criminal/murderer status no longer has effect on whether an area spell hits a non aggressive creature. So area spells will now hit all creatures that are not tame. If they're tame then it will check the rules against that creature's control or summon master. If the controller happens to be a creature then it just keeps going down the chain. But normally the controller will be a player. So in trammel area spells wont hit pets, but in fel it might, if the player is criminal, murderer etc...

* Fixed bug where monster used bandages got stuck in the internal map. This contributed to over 1 million items on the server. Decided to investigate why bandages where the #1 item on the server and found this out. World saves should be noticibly shorter now.

* Fixed a small bug in spell targetting (fields, summons, etc saying location blocked when really its not)

* Gate travel now works at the gate library books

* Server wars has been moved back to 8:00PM so I can tend to the server if something goes wrong. Also the actual server wars period has been removed, it will just be a 5 minute warning, a save followed by an immediate reboot. So you can get back playing within minutes. (a typical reboot takes about 1 minute, maybe 2-3 if theres an update)

Yeah just keep in mind the ninjitsu stuff is still somewhat "beta". We tested it on TC1 quite a bit, but with only 2 people its easy to miss or not consider stuff. Though now at least theres an actual danger to running. Before it was better getting 35 then getting 35 + whatever combo was next.

Ya, don't get too comfortable with that value because we don't have ninjitsu affected by the tracking skill. Normal highest deathstrike is 40 damage but if you tracked your target you can get up to 20 points. We do not have that here so the chances of 60 damage deathstrikes staying is rather slim (I can hear the complaints already). At worse, the 40 damage will likely remain, giving 5 more damage than it used to be.

Make some gold and make sure your stuff is insured and you can do the same thing. Actually you will have too because its just a reboot now, not a SW.

That's a pimp update. Though of course I see some flaws in it.

Ethereals: This completely takes away from donators and future donations. I think it's awesome as hell that you put them on the ethy list, but those who have already donated got shafted, unless you refunded there money. I was also going to donate at the end of the month when I could ride the donation ethies with no prob. xD

DS: That's way too much. When an archer can hit for 30 easily without specials + the DS damage, it's almost insta kill. And if they have a hit spell on the bow then you are dead, especially since they don't require eval to use those hit spells anymore.

Does this update mean reds are able to buy in fel as well?

The new ethys are later in the list so not available till almost a year, so people may still want to donate so they can trade them with newer players or what not. Theres still an economy for them.

And reds should be able to buy in fel now.

Its not garunteed 60 poin Deathstrikes. It ranges. I've done as little as 23 points on a deathstrike and as much as 57 so far (Still havent seen that 60 pointer quite yet). So its by no means like doing 60 points every time, I was still only averaging about 35-40 damage. So I'd say even oppents of the 60 point deathstrikes should give it a chance and see how effective it is in the field (I have only tested it against a few people whom I beat most of the tiiem anyhow).

still there is no way he'll live threw unless my explode pots misses :( but still 40 damage + 15 + 20 + 15 = 90 wait maybe he will :/ but if i get a mortal blow hes done

Yeah its not like before where it used to always be 35.

now it ranges, and the range is based on a number between

capped damage/2 and capped damage

So say the damage formula ends up to like 100 damage, it gets capped at 60, so the final damage will be anything between 30 and 60.

DS will likely be half damage on ranged weapons as per OSI. Red forgot to add that part in during the ninjitsu update. Of course, to be fair to archers, it might just be a max of 35 damage if they run like DS used to be.

60's a test value and like mentioned before, it might be too high. Our basis is to make it possible to attain a 60 damage ninjitsu deathstrike but at the same time, it won't be a common thing that somebody will continuously land it.

Ethereal mounts are way down the list, requiring you to be here for a good year before you get a pick at the new ones. The shard's only been up for about a year and a half to give people an idea of time frames. So those ethereals won't be too common in the market. Donators will still have the advantage of getting that ethereal mount a lot earlier. Of course, if it gets down to things, we could always make the polar bear ethereal donation only.

I'm personally not gunna donate for a sea horse since I could just wait for it. That was one type you should have kept donate only. I understand putting a buncha the ethys liek polar bears and Holy War horse ethys into vet rewards, but there should be something unique about donating to encourage donating.

The reason is I don't want to put donators at an advantage. So I rather have everything available even to non donators. The only advantage donators have is the time in which they get stuff, and other convenience things.

What's the big deal with having an "advantage" of having special mounts? Not like they can break any caps or anything.

I work so many hours now its hard to get time to play ive lost a lot of pvping and skill on uo so it would take a few weeks to get back into the hang of it. Working 12 hours minimum a day 5 days a week leaves me with 2am-5am to do whatever i can online and weekends to see my friends so i dont have as much time as i used to , but i still read the fourms very daily because this is still the best shard on runuo and ill never completlly quit even if i dont have a house or items ( i did keep a few suits ) but it will never grow old on me, ryan by far is the best shard host ive ever come across and i always admire the news section because its a lot of work put into a game he pays for us to play

The crafting process is rather involved (Kinda like how you make a potion keg). Take a look at the talisman topic in the information section. That'll tell you what you need.

Deathstrike from a distance with arrows doing the same damage as a melee wep is not fair, not to mention a dangerous idea (I'm sure we all remember what ki-arrow did to the archers, rather not repeat a similar state). OSI did it for a reason, and it's actually somewhat logical.
