Red, I have spoken with Death about various parts of this over the last few weeks. I am not sure if he passed this on to you yet.

I have a few things I wanted to bring to your attention. They may be related.

First, prior to the update in March (damage revamp etc) BS summoners were quite effective. Though I had a problem with mine erratically attacking me from time to time for NO reason. I wouldn't even be casting. Not looting anything. Nothing, just standing there and WHACK. Some times it happens right when I enter the dungeon.
Now I do recall something along the lines of this happening way back in the original days of UO that sometimes if you took a good NPC to a dangerous place they may turn on you BUT I am not completely certain if that is true. If I am remember this correctly it was when they instituted that quest of taking followers to their destination... some wanted to go to cities others to dungeons... was quite fun and rewarding but there was the occasional NPC that would turn on you when you dropped him off.... again this is going back many years and I may not be remembering it precisely nor may it be even remotely related to this.

Second issue, BS summoners still attack me for no apparent reason but now their damage is tremendously reduced and what's more their BS is gray and does not attack anything. Although, I did see one get whacked by his own BS shortly after the summoner attacked me but the BS only did minimal damage. NOTE: After the damage update in March, BS summoners were trashed. Was that intentional? Prior to the update their weapon damage was observed to be 20-200 or something like that and now they are whatever the common long sword template is for damage.

Lastly, I have had a similar problem with pets on a different char. I tame a pet or two, feed it, tell "all follow me all guard me" and it/they start attacking me. I run in circles tell them ALL STOP ALL STOP (same thing for BS summoner). Eventually they go from solid Green to normal/default untargeted color.

For the pets it seems when I tell them to do something they attack. For the BS summoners it seems much more sporadic.

Thanks for taking time to look into this. I thoroughly enjoy the experience of playing on your server. It brings back old memories while making new ones.

:D

I heard of this. I just have no clue whatsoever what is causing it and how to reproduce it. I've been trying for a few months to figure out why its doing this, but I have yet to be able to reproduce it.

Could the spontaneous attacking be linked to having lots of negative karma?

What about the damage of the Summoner and the grey Blade Spirit? Those both happened immediately following the last update.

That could possibly be different as the calculation changed so it effects mobs too. Those were way too powerful anyway, and the area is still very lethal. The trick is to let small mobs attack the summoner then when it summons the blade its set to on guard. You want the sommoner to be set to come or stay but never guard, or kill. You want mobs to aggro it so then the blade will attack. Though from my understanding this part is kind of messed right now so I'll try to figure out why they randomly attack.

The problem with that Idea now is that the Blade spirit they sommun now is wild. There is not (Tame) tag. And its not that the spirit goes wild or anything, it is summoned wild.

On a side note, it does make fame farming even easier, as you can assault these wild blades they summon and the summoner doesnt even care. in about 5-10 mins you can go from -15k karma/0 Fame to 15k/15k of each if you want to hire one to just fame farm (If you are new karma you don't have much choice because half the tiem the new summoned deathblades afro you within 30 secs of being summoned.

Yeah thats an issue and will be fixed. They're suppose to still be "pets". I went and used the wrong summon function. What happenened is before we used to hard code mob summons but I made a function that handles it all, but that function is only for summons that are not really "magic" summons, like summon demon vs say, a corporal brume. The corporal brume is not really a pet to shimmering effusion, but it is linked to it so that when the boss dies, it vanishes.

With those changes a couple things broke so I'm fixing them as I find them.

If a mob summons stuff and you can dispel it, its probably a bug, though I think I covered most bases with that now.

I had this problem with pets way back on the big D. I switched my macros from "all guard me" to just "all guard". That solved it.

As for blade summoners... why is it that Red makes stuff where you have to learn the "trick" to be able to use it? The old blade summoners were fine. They were simple. Just put them on guard and they were a great help. Now they are all dorked up and complicated.

Actually they've always been that way, only difference might be the damage they do. They are weak so even a lizardman can kill them. You don't make them attack stuff, you let the blade do the work for it. Keep in mind whatever damage the blade does does not count as you doing it.

Their actual purpose is to swoop through champ spawns very quickly. They are specially very good for the elemental champ spawn since the blade will get "stuck" on a single elemental but never kill it but it will vaporize anything else around including other elementals.
