Some players have requested that server wars be moved from 8PM eastern time due to the fact that it falls right in the middle of prime hours and interferes with normal gameplay.
Because development is now being done in larger chunks as opposed to frequent updates, server wars can be moved to 7AM eastern time to accomodate for small changes, light fixes and certain new scripts.
Large updates may still be done at 8PM eastern time so that the developers can ensure that all scripts are entered in properly and that there are no issues. If there are issues, they can be fixed quickly this method.
A large update is more infrequent and players will be informed well in advance when one is on its way. Therefore, I have left a poll to get a player consensus of which time they prefer.

The only shame about this is that SW was the only pvp on the server, now at AM times, it will be pretty much non existent.

I plan to have an auto event system soon so hopefully that will act as a SW pvp replacement. I did not start on the system yet though and this will be HUGE, but think it will be a big hit as well. Lot of other stuff to fix/add before though.

I thought of that too but there's always free for all PVP events which also have a better tournout than PVP in bucs during SW.
We might even consider turning khaldun trammel into a free PVP event area (Has more room to run).

I mentioned this last night, why not just make SW a few hours earlier? Like 6pm perhaps, or even 7pm. Get it in before the main login hours. It seemed to work so much better when it was at 7pm.

7PM is a bit too early because we're around developing and there's enough time to test things afterwards so we try to squeeze completed scripts in but get cut short of time.

Yeah specially now, I only start scripting at around 7, by the time I get home and eat and all that, since I go to the gym so that takes up an hour after work.
Though I suppose now its not a HUGE issue as my plan is if we move SW to like 7:00am, I will do forced reboots for big updates, and just announce ahead of time. I plan to do less small updates and more big ones. We're slowly wrapping up everything to take an extended coding vacation (something like asayre, but just not as long). Though theres still a lot left to be done.

Pretty much finishing up all the loose ends, fixing up bugs/exploits and adding those small but special touches that makes UO interesting (Monster abilities and entrance animations ftw).

Not to sound scared or anything, but you guys will still be around, unlike the A name, and will play and such right? Just don't want to be abandoned, plus I like you guys around

lol yes we'll be around to fix things as they come. But we've been working like mad to get the large systems in and now that they're completed, they just need to be tested and adjusted accordingly. So instead of going on to code more larger systems we'll be focusing more on fixing bugs as they are found and beta testing all the areas to ensure they are working as intended.
This is actually more of benefit to the players I think because the smaller stuff that's been left behind will get fixed and adjusted. A lot of smaller things getting their fixes done to make the worlds of sosaria more complete. It will also be easier to adjust because the updates aren't as frequent.

Also theres a huge update coming. I don't plan on updating too much for the next months as I'm working on a huge update.
TBH some of the changes, people may not agree with, but they are all things we've considered that need to be changed but we were just scared to change them and loose players. So my plan is doing all those changes in one shot, so that I don't need to do any more in the future. That same update will also include a ton of new content which will hopefully outweigh the negative aspects of the changes.
Lot of this is already on TC1 but lot of it is not documented until its released. Though to ensure the full accuracy of documentation some may actually be documented before its released. (or I'd forget to do it if I waited)
Once we are in "break" mode, we actually want to take the time to play more then work. Then we'll still work on fixing small stuff but hold off on the big systems for a bit. I have no plans to code stuff like the zoo system, vesper museum system etc... but maybe in the future.
This will also mean more events as we won't be as busy fixing stuff, once everything works properly.
Also I want to eventually have it to a point where the shard completely runs itself, so even as staff we can just play as if it was another shard, and actually enjoy the game.

Thats what i was expecting, but comparing your idea of a break to the A name is scary
Don't stay stuff like that, it's bound to give me a heart attack.

Looks like there is more votes for 7:00am. So what I'm going to do is change it to 7:00am soon. (probably today after 8:00pm SW) then from now on it will be 7:00am.
The event system will make up for the lack of loss-less pvp that this will create. (HUGE system, but think it will be good for the shard)
