you make a book shelf, it acts like a chest? why? why when you put books in a book shelf you cant see the books like the gate library? be even nicer if you could read the books on the shelf without removing them, again like the gate library.

and why isnt there a deed book? there is a bod book, but no book to organise deeds in.

The way items work in UO is each item has an ID for the picture. There's only so many pictures at the client side. So the empty book case facing east, empty book case facing north, then theres the 2 full ones. When creating a container (whether its a chest or what not) it's given such ID so it shows up as something.

I've thought of making book cases swap to the "full" id when NN amount of items is put into it though, could be cool. But thats as far as is technically possible to go.

Also you should be able to read books without taking them out, as long as the book case is secured and not just locked down.

If you're referring to the bookshelves I made in the gate library where I put the information books, those aren't actually shelves. Those are just benches made from oak that are stacked. I put 2 down then put 2 books then stack another 2 on top of them which mimicks a bookshelf.

You too can do that in your house if you're experienced in item stacking (If not, "castles and courtyards" in google might help you out).

The bookshelves I added as decoration in the entrances are currently not obtainable but we could always do like red said, have the itemid change to the full bookshelf when enough books are on it.

the bench idea is hella cool, thanks for the info.

on a different note, some door/chest signs would be cool. could be used as event rewards or something.
