do they have to reveal every 2 seconds? seriously, try going ANYWHERE in stealth, its not going to happen. goddamn monsters reveal from 2 screens away. go into stealth, "you are revealed by a monster halfway across the dungeon". It doesn't make things interesting, it is just plain stupid.

Which monsters are you referring to in particular just out of curiosity.
I kind of agree with this. There should at least be a target.hidingskill/stealthskill check to make it harder for them to reveal players who can stealth as opposed to a mage who casted invisibily or a human with 20 hiding skill.

go anywhere where there are monsters that can cast. brit gate, fire entrance, tier 3 baracoon, destard, pretty much anywhere in fel where you would want a stealther.... no sense in even trying to stealth out champs, you get revealed a zillion times.

They actually do use the reveal spell, so often they'll fail, and they often target invalid locations (they just randomly target all over within 10 or so tiles).
But if your in the middle of 10 mobs chances are one will target your location often enough. Reveil covers a big enough area, which I could probably reduce as it should not be better then detect hidden, which does only 1 tile.
with the latest changes they should be barely casting reveal now. They used to cast it about every second before.

thanks for toning it down a bit. Its frustrating when I have my protector hidden 4 screens away and a wandering lich from grim strike reveals him.

I would suggest adding in some kind of stealth/hide check so that the chance of getting revealed is lessened if you have high proficiency in those skills (Mostly governed by your stealth skill). That's normally the way hiding and stealth works in conjunction with detect hidden and reveal. Also, elves are harder to track and reveal as opposed to humans.

Yeah all that is taken into account since they use the reveal spell, so it's exact same code. I'd have to check though maybe that spell does not actually take hiding/stealth into account. I'd have to basically swap that code with detect hidden. Since thats a skill on it's on it should work better then a mage spell. The reveal spell should be harder to use on stealthers.

It wouldn't surprise me if runuo did not yet factor that in. After all, at 20 tracking I could locate ninjas on demise. Chances are there are no stealth checks in reveal spells/skills by default. Also, if they had a stealth check and a difficulty modifier tacked on for being elven THAT would be shocking.

All I know is that without fail everytime I enter level 2 of destard im revealed with GM hide/stealth within the 15 steps it takes me to get to level 3. I can't even look at level 2, and the best part is all of the monters are way out of LOS from the entrance and can wonderfully reveal me around a corner 2 screens away.
Makes stealthing rather pointless, as i find I need to bring in a protector to kill everything just to be able to do a chest on level 2. Now on that note, level 3 and 1 I'm pretty much never revealed so it kinda evens out but I still dont think that demons should be able to cast a location that there is no way they can see.

They should not be able to reveal past 10 tiles as the spell can't be casted farther then that. You can test as player to see. (unless that spell is bugged and has no range). But yeah I'll look into this, and ensure its taking hiding/stealth into account.

Well I kinda tested it a few nights ago with my new stealther and like I said I was revealed at the entrance to level 2, but when i come down with plastic man to kill them all, all the demons/mages were at their spawn points and so were the shadow wyrms. No granted the Shadow to the NW of the 2nd one MIGHT have LOS. But it was the demon in the other room that revealed me (i checked the name) This was probably 5 days ago now, so I dunno when you last updated the newest fix thingie.

So am I. I showed it to you once squirrel. It's like they know you are there. Either that, or the range on their reveal is huge. That's kinda funny because sometimes I can't for the life of me reveal a shadow knight even when I have tracking on and am standing on the tile they are (or the one right next to them) and cast reveal on myself.
On a related note, I've noticed that some mobs can cast on me when I'm out of range. I tested this with MA and Travesty; she regularly hits me with a MA and my precasted MA never hits her until she gets one tile closer.

Yeah that time was because the reveal radius was actually going through the wall, thats been fixed now.
Spells can't go through wall though, but I'll have to double test that, I know GMs can cast through walls so maybe mobs can too, though should not be the case as they have player access rights.
