I believe it would be nice if pet bonding time was at least halved. Will help new players get up and going.

Considering the variety of pets in the game, there should be a long pet bond time before you can use your powerful pet.
At the same time there should also be a shorter pet bond time for your first pets so that you can have something to fight with. Perhaps allowing lower/weaker end pets bond faster than higher end pets. Would technically make sense: a horse would be more keen to bond with you faster than say, a massive dragon with a temper.

you can bond any pet in under a day for $5.

I would suggest a timer of like 2 days per follower slot.

That's actually not a bad idea.

If Valor went down, you'd go join a server and on your first day pay $5 to bond your pets? I don't think so.
Dumples: That's not really much better than what it currently is...infact, it's worse for things like Reptalons and Hiryus. Maybe something like 1 day per follower slot would be more viable for newbies.

The scale wouldn't be the same as 10 days for a 5 slot bonded pet is rediculous. The scale starting at a value such as 2 and going up by 1 for each slot would be a better idea (So a 4 slot would be 2 + 4 days (6) for example while a 2 slot pet would be 3 days, etc).

TBH I find its fine as it is.
As a newbie you tame a pet, stable it, tame another, if it has better stats, take out other, put it back in stable, let it bond and for 1 week just keep living with possibly dying pets.
This is not a server where you make a char and go straight to the hardest place, you progress as your char/pet gets better.
I don't play a tamer much but out of my time of playing one I never really found it an issue. I had a mare on Demise that took like 6 months to bond because of the bug there.

Again, if you want more people, you gotta think beyond yourself...

Every other shard out there has it set to 1 week, why should we keep making things so easy? I already seriously nerfed every single monster on the shard...
And pet bonding deeds are only 5 bucks, the server costs 150 bucks every month to run.

Both of you have a point. When I was a fledgling tamer, bonding my pets wasn't my primary goal. My aim is getting the best in resists, stats and skills. Once I tame what I like, I stable it, and tame others in the hope of finding a better pet. Before I realize it, the other pet is ready to be bonded.
I'm willing to give away PBDs for free to new players. Got a lot from the December event. Just an advice to newbie tamers: farm pets. That way you can compare resists, stats and skills before deciding to use the PBD or waiting for a whole week to bond your better pet. I encountered several players who slap PBDs on pets without regard to their worth in battle.

A trick I used to always do with hiryus is tame one, then find another hiryu and send it on another hiryu and see which one wins (without vet) if mine dies, then I tame the one that just killed it, since its obviously better.
Do this about 10 or so times and you'll have a half decent hiryu.
If the same one wins several times in a row consider the fact that its training so if its a very close battle chances are the other one may be better.
Also compare resists in the process as one may have crappy resist but higher initial skills.

You both have a valid point. On one hand it does seem kind of long but on the other hand you have more than one stable slot for a reason. Second you get one bonded pet everything's fine anyways as you just use that pet and wait for the others to bond. Getting that first pet is a task but then again if you want to bond it faster there's those pet bonding deeds you can buy from donation or the specialty dealer. Some people are also willing to trade for some.
If a lot of people think this is a problem we can run a poll.

This post wasn't for me.
Just some newer players that were on yesterday complaining about timer. And no, not every server out there has the 1 week timer. I've played a few that were 1 day timers.

that method of "taming" makes no sense. When you tame a creature it looses skills and they must be retrained, atleast 90% of them time, a freshly tamed creature will die to a wild one as long as it's not assisted, simple because it lost skill via getting tamed.

Hiryu's are a bad example too. THey get there stats cut in half. A newly tamed hiryu will never kill and never tamed hiryu without some healing.

My idea with the 2 days per follower slot was just an idea given the topic. If it opinion on whether it should be changed, I think not. I agree that pet bonding deeds could be purchased or gotten from other players if needed. Otherwise, just wait the week for a good pet to bond, while finding and using mroe expendable pets.

not if you have my horrible luck with bonding pets... I would prefer the $5 route, less frustration.
