Soon it will now be possible to setup public vendor contracts in your vendor house. How these will work is you "offer" the contract to yourself, and it makes it go public. Anyone can then claim that spot and put their vendor. This will make it easier to setup vendor houses as you won't have to be around for it to fill up. you can of course keep some private for invite only as well.
this is pretty much active on TC1 and just needs some further testing before it goes through.

What about removing a vendor that someone else is renting, how will that work?

The contract actually is deleted when a vendor is put so that falls into another system. As far as I know only the vendor owner can dismiss the vendor, but if the house is demolished it removes the vendors and bags fall to the ground.

So, what if the owner of a house or whatever wants to remove or get rid of a vendor, but maybe the person who is renting the vendor doesnt have stuff, or hasn't played in a while?
Just trying to think of different scenarios. I want to make sure that the house owner has some kind of control. Like maybe the contents of the vendor could move into the bank box of the person who is renting the vendor is the house owner decides to dismiss the vendor or something.
((I edited this because I left out the word bankbox.))

Yeah I could look into that option actually. Though I think there exists an option to stop the contract from renewing, while the vendor is out, but I'll have to check.

I just checked and there is an option to terminate the contract but it sends a gump for the owner to accept or deny. So maybe I can just remove the gump and make it terminate anyway. Though for now I'll leave it as is, as theres still the option to make the contract no longer renew, when clicking it as the land lord.

It goes in a special reserve and the vendor owner can access it by going to a menu under the house sign.
Though if the house is demolished, its a different story, so I can maybe see if terminating a contract can do that. Or I can make it so the vendor has to be empty to force a termination, and then the gold would go to the bank.
I just rather have the pack fall as its the whole fun of idocs. (uses same code as demolish, when it comes to vendors)

I would really like to help you work on this system and help test it. People can do some really dumb stuff when it comes to vendors. Perhaps set a time and I will meet you on TC and try to do the dumbest of the dumb and we will see what happens.

I tested it pretty touroughly but if you want to test more in case I overlooked something feel free to. Just make a house, set a vendor, then use another account. If I'm not around. You can do [set housesmax 10 to make your char have more house slots.

so if Reco makes a vendor house can I claim all his vendors? Then use them for an extra 125 items of storage by filling a bag full of junk and pricing it at 500k? Can stuff be priced and put on the vendor's paperdoll? Can he change my rental cost, and can he do it without my consent?
just a few things off the top of my head...

You could take all spots, but that would cost you, he would get the money. Land lords have always been able to change cost, but now that I look at that, its a bad idea so should probably be removed.
I could also add a limit of 1 vendor per house per char, so it would be max of 6 per house if you use all chars.

Landlords can change the cost of rental, but it negates the contract so the renter has to agree to the change and reaccept the contract. That system works pretty well, so please leave it as it is. But at 1 vendor per character, that would be 18 total for 3 accts. Then 21 total if we get the 7th character slot.
I am not trying to be a pain, the vendor system is a really good idea. But with my experience with the OrcFort, I have seen some really really ugly and frustrating situations arise from vendor rentals.

Yeah I can understand, thats why its up to the landlord to decide if they should be set public or not. The best thing is to probably set only 1 or 2 public at a time, then when someone takes one you put another.
But I just tested and you can change the price without the vendor renter to have to do anything. So either something broke or its always been this way.
I could also disable price changing completly if its set to auto renew. If its not set to auto renew at the renter's end, then it would be possible to change price as the renter would look at the price before renewing.

changing the price should cancel the auto renew, now that I think about it. Its been awhile since I rented out vendors.

Your right, I just checked that now, it does cancel it. So think we got that base covered. Though I'll setup some kind of warning so the renter knows its no longer auto renewing. Like text when opening it or something.
So really the big issue is # of vendors per house. Might limit it per account or let it up to land lord to control, by not putting too many deeds at once.

Added a hard coded value of 3 vendors per account now. Also vendors can now be access by any char on the account that placed it. I always thought it would be a good idea to do it that way, so while I was in that code figured I'd fix that up too.

Sorry for the double post, but it seemed important to list here as well. Remove the public vendors and/or don't add more to the rune library area. Let people start setting and promoting vendors themselves. There are enough houses and players around Luna that people can find and promote vendors without the rune library vendors needing to grow.
