Update [Dec 30 07] - AI tweaks and stuff

* Christmas trees which are not in a house can now be removed by anyone, if the placer is a player or is null.
* Changes have been made to the way TC1 works. Rather then staff deeds being given out, some GM commands are now available to players.
* Fixed Cu sidhe rezing. They would try to rez you but keep using another bandage too early. Found a way to have it check if the last bandage completed rather then use a set time/formula. Adopted this method into the mob AI too for mobs that have healing. (Cu sidhes don't use the AI as they need to be able to target their master too)
* Pet notoriety now matches master's So lets say a tamer is murderer then the pets will be red too.
* Did some tweaks to AI a bit
* Creatures now use the special shots of their own weapon, unless it is overridden
* Special shots now work on ranged weapons for creatures
* New chars are no longer auto added to public chat channel, to join type [chat, click the gold circle then check the public checkbox.
* Some mobs such as ronins can now swap weapons mid battle, and will re-equip when disarmed
* Ore elementals can now spawn as paragons if mined up in ilshenar

Rebooted and removed the Pet notoriety code, I did not realize the issues that would cause, like stopping people from recalling after healing their pet, and such.

Yeah think rat archers use regular bows if I'm not mistaken. Though think for those mobs I should make a special "dummy bow" that has no specials

I just did baracoon and I got paralyzed quite a bit. Nothing that caused me to die, but it caught me off guard at first. I do not think I was mortaled at all though.

Goes by the weapon skill of the attacker. Rat archers have a low skill in weaponry (Under 90 I believe, maybe 78 or 80 or something). Therefore they (Like players) can only activate paralyze special shot (The first one) as the second special shot requires 90 skill.
I think it adds a little pizzaz to the game but it might be a bit overwhelming in certain champs (lol orc with the orc scouts that's gonna be annoying). On its own it should prove to be amusing though.

Death of the Melee Dexxer anyone? Now you go up against even swoop you have a chance of getting wtfpwnt. Add in changelings using your own weapons . . . how I get auto-killed from half life and I am running 130 hp.

Just got hit for 70+ hp from a paragon swoop. Twice.
Might be leaving this shard pretty soon the way melee dexxers keep getting the shaft.

Swooop has always did AI. I've killed it plenty of times with my melee dexxer. Sometimes I die, but it usually goes down pretty fast before it has time to do enough damage.

Well try it now. Try all of the named mobs in weald now actually. I used to solo every one of them.
But don't worry about it. Ill be trying out Divinity. Hopefully you guys will get this melee dexxer nerf under way and move on from there.

I was looking to find the link where you cried to mess with archers . . . but its gone. :/
Naw I don't want cheese. I want to know how much playtesting went in before this "fix" happened. What type of characters were considered in this "fix" and what mobs were looked at when implimenting this.
Because it just seems one-sided.

1. the AI tweaks did not affect swoop AT ALL, in fact, swoop is not even using the Super_AI algorthm, its just melee.
2. Swoop is probably the easiest named creature on the server. See rpv:

This is a regular char not a GM.
3. Only human mobs will be using wep specials of the wep they have wielded, but again, this wont affect swoop, only rat archers and such.

As changelings mimick you, they will also gain the abilities of the weapon you were holding when they copied you.
Swoop is a special case because it is a named creature and its special shots are actually overrided and non weapon specific (Swoop is given AI and double shot). That's pretty much the only reason swoop can do these special shots (It's also the reason why a mongbat doesn't walk up and do paralyzing blow on you). Swoop has been doing these since day 1.

Firstly, Im talking about the number of times it does it. Ibe veen getting double AI-Crushing Blows from all the named mobs in the 20 mins I was there. Secondly it doesnt do double shot, it does crushing blow.
All I am saying is that before something like this gets implimented I think there needs to be more playtesting. This is a HUGE thing for the fact that a lot of people(me included) prefer to PvM here more then anywhere else.
I know I am starting shit, and Im sorry.

We can do like demise and "test" but never release stuff, or put it in when we tested everything we can think of, then fix when problems arises. I choose method #2, its MUCH faster.
Also changelings are meant to mimic you so depending on how powerful your template is, then it may be hard. When me and death did travesty everything it would turn into his char I was pretty much dead.
PVM is not suppose to be teddy bears giving you loot without any effort. You're also in one of the hardest dungeons.

Ah you're right about crushind blow. Haven't looked into that script for awhile and was taking a guess at that one. As for the intensity part, there's a chance that it did affect the overrides and made it so that they did it more often. That part we'll check into.
Also, when scripts make it onto live, they are essentially being "play tested". We trap the major things and known issues on the test shard but in order to find all the bugs and problems, it pretty much has to be test run with the players before it can truly be perfected (Such as the AI). Some things may be annoying or difficult when a new change goes in but chances are it will progressively get fixed up and tweaked as more information we discover or the players discover become available (In your case, the intensity of the special shots).
OSI has test servers where they can test things with tons of players and demise is essentially runuo's "test server". We unfortunately do not have that luxury. Even then some bugs will get through and annoy or anger players (IE: Demise fukiya darts being bugged). AOV's bugs get fixed a hell of a lot faster though.

Poiting out a problem area so we can fix it is not starting shit and actually benefits the shard. We create the shard for the players and it's up to them to tell us of problem areas so we can improve upon them so your comments and concerns are appreciated.

But the point is Red, this is not actually making PvM much different. For most of the farming templates it makes no difference at all(mage, tamer, archer and whatnot.)
But melee dexxers now are unviable.
Just my 2 cents. I used to be able to do Twisted Weald and it was fun. Now I die to two Changlings. Don't even want to imagine Irk/Spite and whatnot.

I've put up with archer for a while now...only just complained about it recently. You got on about this ai change immediately. It also wasn't a fix...it is merely a "tweak".
