I have seen at the begining of the year that UO will be bumping the intensities of the various runics. This is so that runics can compete with their free-lootable cousins.
As I mentioned in a previous FoF thread, I've made some changes to the BOD system. They're not huge, but it should make things a little more rewarding.
Corrected a small error that gave skilled smith's a 45% base chance to get a colored BOD instead of the intended 50% chance.
GM Smiths still get a 10% bonus chance for a colored BOD (60% total).
Elder Smiths get a 20% bonus chance for a colored BOD (70% total).
Legendary Smiths get a 40% bonus chance for a colored BOD (90% total).
The chances of getting a valorite BOD (once you've passed the colored BOD test), have been raised substantially.
There is also a short delay (5 seconds) between turning in multiple filled BODs.
Colored footwear large bods should now be offered.
All runic tools have had their intensity ranges changed as follows:
Blacksmithing:
Dull Copper: 40 - 100
Shadow: 45 - 100%
Copper: 50 - 100%
Bronze: 55 - 100%
Gold: 60 - 100%
Agapite: 65 - 100%
Verite: 70 - 100%
Valorite: 85 - 100%
Tailoring:
Spined: 40 - 100%
Horned: 45 - 100%
Barbed: 50 -100%
This won't make it into the very next publish, but should be in the one after that.
And to those who celebrate it, have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Edit: Added a few fixes to the end of the list, and changed the delay to 5 seconds.

Any way you could spread the love Squirrel? Maybe even before the end of the year?
The effect would be two-fold. Smithy would be better than tailoring armor wise(better chance to HIGH end gear) and all that other love. Maybe make fletching, carp, and tinkering similar?

I can easily bump the intensities.
also, any runic, as well as looted item, has the chance to have 1 property to be 100% intensity. (thats in already)

as of right now (from what i understand it)
those runics indigo is talking about have all the way to100% intensity.
The runics on our server have their base intensities (lets say hrsk, which is like 35-70%) and also a 1% of one mod being 100%.
There is a big big difference in how the two of these work, and i think runics should deffinatley follow this trend. I kind of even want to say that loot in general needs a bump. I first started playing on here because monsters were giving good loot, all the time. Now, I can't even bear to pvm, because I already have quite a bit of good items, and trying to get a certain type of wep now with certain mods at a certain intensity is so unlikely compared to what it used to be, pvm dosen't seem worth it anymore. All of us vet players have chests full of max prop/max intensity jewelry, and anyone new to the server dosen't really have the same oppertunity as we did asfar as loot goes.

Yeah I definatly will take a look at all runics and do that, I find its not a bad idea at all, given even the lower end ones are hard enough to get anyway.
The way loot works is very messed, always working on trying to tweak that. Still debating on making a whole new loot generation system, which I'd end up needing if I implement instanced corpses, anyway.

Yeah, plus I would like for something other than PvM and PvP to get a nod . . . I mean, its things like blacksmithy, cartography, fishing and whatnot that truly makes this game the first and greatest. I dunno, I just see where the merit of those intensities work.

Good to know that there are players who appreciate the diversity of UO. It's so disheartening when others always deem it as a huge killing field. No offense meant to avid pvp players; I used to pvp a lot also (a long UO time ago). It's just that UO is a one-of-a-kind experience that let's you enjoy the adventure brought by pvm, the thrill that pvp gives, the peace and quiet of crafting and mercantilism, and other various stuff you can do in UO depending on your creativity.

And so it was done! Something that Wilki has done that must wait until the next publish, Age of Valor has implimented within 24 hours!
Since I bet Im one of the ONLY people to have read all 12+ pages, Wilki and some other dude confirmed that it was allready coded but will not be shipped out until the publish after the next one.
Congrats AoV for being the true "Closest thing to OSI is OSI" out there.

We've actually been known to release stuff before OSI. The 10th anniversary arty system for example, was released a day before. Though it was about a week after until all arties were in - the suits were added after I had coded a full blown system which involved major edits to armor, wep, talisman and clothing system.

Ha, I was playing on D***** earlier and doing some mining. (Which seems to be the only thing I enjoy on there now.) And it seems that they have finally implemented the mining gems. So I go and look on their forums to see what they say. It is basically this. "Enjoy this new addition to the resource gathering system. Woods are in as well, although you can't make them into boards. Also, your new gems have absolutely no purpose." And then.... "Please bear with us as we work on this system, as it is intensive and will take a lot of time to implement."
Of course, these aren't their exact words....but somehow, I don't believe it is as intensive as they say it is. Considering the staff here managed to do it in a fairly quick amount of time, barring recipies and tweaking the chance to harvest ratio.
And to Logan. Well said about the diversity of choices in UO. I myself love fishing. My "spawner" character is actually a fisherman/necro/mage. I know that if I drop fishing, I could make him so much better, but....I like to fish.
Anyways, mad props to the staff. We may not be number one in all the listings, but I'd put money on us being one of the closest to OSI shards with a plethora of custom stuff as well and us being one of the most balanced free shards out there.

haha yeah saw that update on their forums and started to laugh. You can tell they're rushing this stuff half assly done because they are being pressured by the fact that all other freeshards have this stuff already.
People will stock pile those gems then in 2 years when they add recipes there will be an overflow of em.
