Update [Dec 09 07] - Area spells, coal

* Aggressor creatures will no longer by hit by player area spells, unless the player is evil (more then 5 murders, or criminal, or low karma)
This is to prevent accidentally hitting NPCs or otherwise good creatures, when not intended. This will have a negative side effect for if you want to wither a bunch of cows for fun, but you can always flag them first, then it will work (or use low karma char)

* Added coal into the game - they will be introduced at the Christmas event, but I will eventually set it as an obtainable resource. You can set it on the ground and double click to ignite - need camping skill to successfully do this.

* It is now possible to use area spells at the sanders spawn.

I hope you meant non-aggressor creatures will not get hit by area spells.

aggressor = stuff like animals, stuff that only attacks if attacked first. So area spells wont initiate this attack, unless your char is evil (crim, murderer, or low karma) or if flagged. So if you want to wither a bunch of cows with high karma char, you have to target them all, or attack a blue, like a npc or something. But this will make it so lets say you wither near a satyr with non evil char, it wont get hit. Think this was the cause of the elves attacking people too, stuff like hit area was hitting them.

That's probably not the best idea against grey hued creatures (Will make champion spawns REALLY annoying). Unless you addressed that and made it non-applicable to grey hued. Blue hued I can see though.

Most champ mobs attack so they wont fall in that category. If I see it does become and issue I can switch it back but think it will be ok. Sanders might be an issue though since most mobs are aggressors, so we'll see.

What about non-necro area spells like Earthquake, Meteor Swarm, Chain Lightning, Wildfire, Holy Light, and any others I might be missing?

Those spells would be used by positive characters, and maybe want to be used for the sole purpose to initiate a fight from time to time. Or crowd control to capture attention onto yourself so mobs don't attack a different player or pet. Will those still work correctly? I dunno, I'll have to try this out I guess, but it makes things potentially complex.

Yeah they'll work ok, all area spells call up same code to determine which targets are valid.
