Monster AI (gd nonstop healing)

Since it was brought up on another topic, I would like to voice my severe frustration at part of the monster AI. Some of the tougher casting monsters will go into a run mode and heal non-stop when you get them below about 20% health. If they do that once or twice, that would be fun. But they go into a non stop heal loop and it takes longer to kill them at 20% health then it did to do the first 80% of damage. I ran into a supreme ogre lord and it was impossible for me to kill it on my PVM mage. Luckily I have a good archer, and he finished it.

on a side note, its sad that one of the toughest pvp archers on the server has been reduced to a strictly pvm character. At least on demise archers can be decent in pvp. I couldnt even kill Fists of Fury the other night.

Supremes are meant to be hard and have tons of mana which is why they always cast. Also their AI intensity scalar is like 400 when regular mobs are about 100 (which will be reduced to 80)

i am not complaining about a hard monster, its the non stop healing at the end that is frustrating. It takes longer to kill the last 10-20% than the rest of the monster's health bar.

I'd be in favor of rethinking the pvp archer in the future. With the introduction of new UOML bows and some runic kits to make some bows, it would be a shame not to bring them to pvp.

I'd have to retest again, I could maybe do 1 of the two: make damage cap a bit higher, or SSI cap back to 1.5. I would probably be more in favor of the damage cap, maybe raising it by 10 or so. But right now its still pretty high. I was unable to hit it with a maxed out paladin. (120 anat 120 tactics 120 archery, 150 str, max DI + chiv spells)

on the archers, it seems that I have to stand in the same spot for a few seconds before I shoot. It was never that way before the nerfing at the beginning of the summer. That right there makes pvp impossible, because you get hit every time you shoot.

and don't worry, my uber suit is long gone... I don't even have an elven composite bow yet.

Should be .75 seconds, thats what its set to. Was originally .25 which enabled to run and hit at same time.

I just did some testing and damage is capped at 12 for archers. That was on a char with a full resist suit. Usually I hit for 20-25 with demise Subotai, and he doesnt have as good of a suit as my guy on valor.

12 is about right. melee is 17 I believe, so if you want more damage, go melee. Archery has the distance advantage while melee has damage/speed advantage. and 25 is WAY too high. Thats 4 seconds to kill pretty much anyone and its impossible to heal fast enough, at least on Demise where its 1.25.

Its 1.75 here AND we get damage capped at 12? That doesn't make sense. Its really 2.5 since you have to stand in the same spot for .75 also. So archers do 12 damage every 2.5 seconds. thats retarted

Thats 12 on full 70. So use consecrate, corpse skin, concussion blow, AI etc and you can do way more damage. The cap is applied before special shots are put into effect. Theres also hit spell, or casting spells (holy light if your a paladin, pain spike if necro, etc)

I still dont understand that why did an whole class get nerfed cause two-three guys got their asses kicked and then they decided to make one post and that was it.

Neither i do understand that fact that my archer with best possible pvp gear what youre able to get within leagal ways on this shard cant kill a mage if hes casting heal nonstop.

Now you might say that change your template, add magery and yada yada, thing is ive seen it myself how well my build worked in pvp and for pure principle i dont give up with it.

And its not only the archery dmg cap what got nerfed, our bows got too and same with armor.

Also let me remind you that those two-threee guys who got their asses kicked and made the post (ohh and dont forget all of them were mages) are now gone, prolly playing demise, way to go.

its funny that THEY weren't told to change their playstyle. Such as use potions or use DISARM. BTW Red, could you please give my guy, MAGE DOCTOR, his xyz axis back. Brunus deleted it 4 months ago in a fit of rage because he didn't like the point I was making.

K I'll try to find that char, you'll have to log in as him or it wont work.

And the decision was not based on only 3 people, it was based generally on what I saw. Being able to kill someone in 3 hits with absolutely no effort is not pvp.

no archer has been able to kill someone on this shard with 3 hits, well maybe if he had very little hp

when did any of us kill people with 3 hits? it took a lot more than that, unless you are talking about the times when Hector and I teamed up against someone. Maybe 3 hits from each of us if they all hit. Now what if 2 mages both cast exp+evil omen+flamestrike? that would be a "3 hit kill"
