Been saving up for about 2 years or so and now I finally found a good house that I can afford. Some repairs to do before I move in but nothing too too bad.
Got all the financial side figured out, just have a few more things to go through before it's 100% but chances are those will go alright.
House details:
Lot Size: 50 X 100
Bedrooms: 3
Bathrooms: 1.5
Kitchens: 1
Garage: Attached
Parking: 2
Fire Place: 1
house age: 26+
Gas furnace
Brick foundation (that kinda made me weary, but it's decent condition, will fill in cracks and stuff)
square feet: 1056
Asking price: $184,900
Bought at: $165,000
The official sign off was yesterday, June 1st at around 8:25PM.
Some pics to come later once it's 100% official and that I have the key and all.
For now here is the listing:

I didn’t expect this! Congratulations.
(That much money would get you a
huge house in Lawrenceburg, but it would be in Lawrenceburg.)

Haha, well I could also buy a whole neighborhood in Detroit without a mortgage. I thought of it. I can just turn it into a data center and rent server space.
"Take advantage of the crumbling auto industry to get some of the best prices on dedicated servers!" That would be a funny sales statement.

this and possibly
this
I'll be starting the basement from scratch. It's really damp and smelly in there. (elderly smell) and I want to divide it differently. That particular picture you posted is probably where the server room will go. I'll extend the stairs as well.
One of the first things were doing in the house is tearing down the basement then cleaning all the concrete, then painting it. Oddly, the foundation is actually made of brick! Not often that you see that, but it's more common on older houses. Guess it was cheaper at the time then pouring cement.
The paint will also help keep stuff like
this away from my bathtub.

No, seriously, I've never seen a spider this HUGE in this town. I killed it.
And all the spider's relatives know exactly where you live.

lol no, I did not get the key yet, I only get the key on the 26th, and then there's lot of renovations to do. Will probably be moving in by end of summer. I can't wait!
I'll be doing lot of the work myself such as painting, though it will take a while given I work all day.

Ordered my furniture and appliances yesterday. Got an insane deal, 6k for all. I put 1k down and financing the rest but I'll try to pay it within the next 6 months or so.

By “furniture and appliances,” do you mean servers and server racks?

Haha that stuff will come later. I'm even debating on just making my own server rack out of wood. I can design the cases too and just make everything modular. It would basically be a big fancy dresser for computers, and I'd paint it black to give it the "server rack" look.
First I need to get the tools for that kind of stuff though, and practice. Never really built anything before but I want to learn.
