Caroline Kennedy

Anyone else disgusted by the various public offices being filled with appointees? Caroline Kennedy is among them, and being that she's trying to get into the Senate, her qualities, or lack thereof, may affect the the entire nation.
Frankly, she's acting like she's entitled to the seat because of her family. When her potential appointment made news a few weeks ago, I remember a bunch of pundits on TV, don't remember which station, were basically saying that the governor of NY doesn't have a choice but to appoint her because of the political power her family has. Is this a fcking monarchy or some kind of despotism where heredity is a valid basis for filling a government post? I certainly hope she doesn't get the seat.
Oh, I guess while on the subject, the Illionois Federal Senate seat fiasco deserves some mention....
