Most North Americans turned their clocks back an hour tonight. Has anything odd happened because of the time change?

The poo really hit the fan at work when the clocks went back an hour. Systems, maintenance programs, and behind the scenes stuff flat out died for a few hours. But then again, that happens to some degree or another every year when we do this.

DST FTL.

Only FTW part is the extra hour of coding I had last night.

Went fairly smoothly this year as far as my own network goes. Seems newer versions of Linux handle it properly. Windows I did not even bother doing the patch as it's highly involved, so I just switch the time zone when it's time. I go GMT-4 in summer and GMT-5 in winter and uncheck the box to modify for DST settings.

I don't really have a problem with DST. I took the extra hour to finish off the first penny arcade game. (while waiting the 6 months or whatever until the second is released for the PS3 *shakes fist*)

Seems kinda pointless though. I'd like to see a study done that actually calculates how much moneyenergy is saved with DST. I doubt it's all that much.

I doubt any energy is saved. Most people leave their furnace on when it's dark, because it has nothing to do with dark/light. We still use the microwave, stove, etc... these are all things that use lot of power. The only difference is lights, and we still use them, just at different times of the day. Ex: we'll still t urn on the lights in the morning because its still too dark, and we'll still turn them on at night when it gets dark. Comes up to same thing at the end.
